Bio

95 South is a Jacksonville bass duo of Mike Mike (Michael Phillips) and Daddy Black (Carlos Spencer) from Jacksonville, Florida. The group's name is a reference to Interstate 95, which passes through the city.

Their biggest success was the 1993 hit "Whoot, There It Is" from their debut album Quad City Knock, which reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was produced by Grammy Nominated C.C. Lemonhead & Jay "Ski" McGowan, then known as The Bass Mechanics, who would later be known as the 69 Boyz and the Quad City DJ's. The success of the single propelled the album to peak at #71 on the Billboard 200.

In 1995, they released their second album, One Mo' 'Gen, which contained the minor hit "Rodeo" that reached #77 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album itself peaked at #158 on the Billboard Hot 200. In 1997, 95 South made a guest appearance on Aaron Carter's self-titled debut album for the song "Shake It". Their third album Tightwork 3000 followed in 2000.

In 2000, the group contributed to the soundtrack for the movie Bring It On, with the song "Cheer for Me". The duo have also remixed songs for artists including Jordan Knight and Dru Hill.

Since 2000, the group has continued to tour the country at major festiavls including Grad Bash, Funk Fest tours, Colleges, and Private functions. In 2014, Daddy Black and Mike Mike started touring with a Live band. They continue to play the Hits and deliver audiences with a taste of their new originals, including "Chevy" and "After Party"!

The band is touring in 2016 while recording a new album! The album will feature live performances in the studio for a Summer 2016 release!
