alacartoona needs your helpPosted By providence from May 4, 2009
Dear friend,Alacartoona needs your help. We are making a movie. Not a music video but a full-length film entitled "Night Is The Mirror." Set in a forgotten cabaret somewhere between truth and reality, the movie explores what happens when music and dreams collide. We received an Inspiration Grant from the KCArts Fund for the purpose of making this film. The Fund's intention was to help us expand as artists and their faith in us has helped us conceive and write a new chapter in Alacartoona's evolution. We intend to use this film as an introduction as we seek to play new venues in the U.S. and abroad. It is also a major leap along the path of more fully realizing our unique performance hybrid that we call "theatrical music." The Inspiration Grant was an essential source of seed funding, but it is only a fraction of the full cost of completing this project. From securing a theater to hiring our talented directors and their staffs, from renting equipment and props to feeding a full crew, this film will require more capital than Alacartoona has by far. And so we come to you, our friend and fan, with fedoras in hand. We are asking you for any help that you can afford to give. No amount is too small (or too large) because your faith in us will see us through to the completion of this project. The link below will take you to a Paypal page where you can make a donation of any size. (If you don't have a Paypal account, you will be led through the simple steps of setting one up.) https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=5200142 If you prefer the ways of the old school, you can send a check (made out to Alacartoona) to the following address: Alacartoona c/o Erin McGrane P.O. Box 30002 Kansas City MO 64112 Thank you in advance for your help. We literally could not make this film without you. Sincerely, Providence, Ruby, Bachelor & Overton PS Another way you can help is by attending the post-shoot concert at the Off Center Theater in Crown Center on 29 May. We will be recording the performance and will include the best footage on the DVD. You'll get a sneak peak at the film and may just end up being in the film. Tickets are $10 advance and $15 on the night of the show (service charge applies), and are available online: https://tickets.ahtkc.com/Online/default.asp There is limited cabaret seating available for $25 - call the box office at 816-274-8444 for details. |
