"REVERIE OPENS FOR UNEARTH"

It's been a few months since I jumped into the pit with camera in hand at a metal show. It's nights like this that remind me why I love photographing music so much. Before Unearth took the stage at Hawaiian Brian's, local progressive metal band, Reverie hit the stage and got the crowd warmed up for the coming insanity. - Raul Soria

"SUPPORT LOCAL... METAL"

Excited as all hell, I bulldozed my way straight through the pit and planted myself up front & center for the local opening metal acts who opened for As Blood Runs Black last week at Hawaiian Brian's.

Although I missed Corrupt Absolute's opening set, I got there just in time to see one of my favorites, Reverie, who I've been going on and on about for the last couple of weeks. My accolades for this Hawaii metal band won't end anytime soon. I'm all about supporting the local scene and have even decided to follow them around as my own personal photo project. - Raul Soria

"Tweet from Issues bassist"

This band is SICK. APHESIS. Hawaiian blackened death metal. We finally got to play with a death metal band lol - Skydark

Bio

The beginning of Aphesis dates back to a Times of Grace show outside of Tropics Bar and Grill (now Real, a Gastropub), a local music venue in Honolulu, in 2011. Shaggy and Freddy met and found they shared common musical goals. Shortly after the two started writing together, a drummer named Travis expressed interest in collaborating with them. Blending styles inspired by Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, The Deftones, and Messhuggah, the three started writing complex songs that can only be described as progressive blackened death metal.  The five members of Aphesis are Shaggy Augustine, Freddie Pedro, Teddy Wolf, Dillon O`Clary, and Jacob Kimsel.  They have opened for Issues, Hatebreed, Dying Fetus, Incantation, Suicide Silence, Crown The Empire, Revocation  and more.

Aphesis's debut album Isochronism is scheduled for release on Dec 12, 2017 It will be available at www.aphesismetal.net and at upcoming events.
