Bio

Aterra Tale is a band dedicated to creating music that you can feel, music that can paint pictures within your mind and tell stories that you can bring to life with your own thoughts, feelings, and life experiences. The band—Scottie James (vocals), Ryan Diemer (guitars), Eric Kalina (bass), and Jason Mancini (drums)— was founded in 2012 and have been exponentially gaining momentum since their conception. Their sound is a tasteful blend of various forms of rock with soaring melodies that they have molded into their own brand of incredibly catchy music that is easy to get lost in.

In recent years, we've begun to see heroes - be they classic characters or everyday citizens - differently. Whether it's director Christopher Nolan taking us into the dark corners of Batman or Superman's minds, or a real-life do gooder having a personal struggle after the media has made them an overnight sensation, American culture has become fascinated with the concept. Perhaps it's in an attempt to justify our own imperfections; to know that if the strongest have a weakness, we can inevitably level the playing field. It's almost as if we've turned the phrase "Nobody's perfect" into "Everyone's flawed," and while they essentially mean the same thing on the surface, they're also vastly - almost dangerously - different.

It's that conflict that rests beneath the new single "Hide and Seek" from Aterra Tale’s second self-produced full-length album “In Working Order”. "I am the fallen master / I am the broken savior" laments lead vocalist Scottie James over Eric Kalina's flowing bass and Jason Mancini’s crushing rhythm. Paired up with the tormented growl on the song's chorus of "God knows I want it / but the devil knows I need it," the push/pull of the song's story goes hand in hand with the soaring melody and Ryan Diemer's artfully sinister guitar work.

The band's modern rock sound still has nods to emotional post-hardcore (Circa Survive) and maybe even a little pop-punk (Lagwagon), and having performed alongside national heavyweights like Throw The Fight, Parabelle, Three Years Hollow, Sevendust, Coheed & Cambria, Drowning Pool, Coal Chamber and SOIL, the quartet is clearly making a name for themselves in the area. "Hide and Seek" is a propulsive, addictive new addition to the band's repertoire, already filled with riff-fueled bombast ("One In The Same") and atmospheric, introspective journeys ("The Ghost Within").

“We know what we want out of our music, and we all work together with an almost brotherly-like chemistry to create it” says vocalist Scottie James. “We want to give people something more that what is currently out there. We want to create a connection with the fans and give them an experience at each show. Our band is about working hard and creating something unique and memorable with each song and I think our fans can feel it when we hit the stage, and that’s something special.”
