3-D Music Video (without glasses)

Posted By from April 20, 2010

The awesome folks at PetaPixel shared another great post a few weeks ago that I think you might really enjoy. It’s about a music video for the band, Blue Roses, song, “Doubtful Comforts” that was shot by Fabian Röttger using wiggle stereoscopy to create a 3D effect. Michael Zhang from PetaPixel has the details. It’s pretty interesting to read how this was done.

If you’re a regular reader here, you may recall my rant about the stereoscopic format. I think it’s pretty lame when films like the recent Clash of the Titans are shot traditionally and subsequently converted to 3-D by some engineers with fancy computers so a marketing company can add ’3-D’ to the title. Give me a break. I think somewhere along the road we’ve all lost sight of art. What I love about Fabian’s work is that nothing about the use of the 3-D effect comes across as forced. I feel like it really works with the content of the piece. What do you think?

Hope this finds you feeling healthy!
