"Music Morsels"

Maryland's David Alberding is a singer/songwriter with many personalities waved together by his robust, soulful voice and thought provoking lyrics. The fiddle fueled country tinged "Mary Had a Bad Day" jump starts the CD with fervor. Ballads like "Great Expectations" and "The Gift" show a "Nebraska" era Springsteen touch while "Goin Down De Ocean" shows a more rocking side. Some serious talent and potential here. - Serge Entertainment

"Wrestling With Angels"

"This is a very powerful album with very powerful imagery. When David sings
you can’t help but listen. His baritone voice and strong interpretations of
his material makes it hard not to hear what he’s saying.
David is a storyteller and that shines through in practically
every song on this album.
He reminds me of Charlie Daniels in his approach to storytelling through song.If you know The Devil Went Down to Georgia, then you’ll totally understand David’s Wrestling With Angels" - Unsigned Magazine

"Alberding's 'Angels' take wing"

It's not often a local performer releases a CD that immediately grabs listeners with its hit potential. But singer-songwriter David A. Alberding's newest release, "Wrestling with Angels," is such a CD. Smartly written by Alberding, beautifully played and elegantly produced, the songs here will haunt you long after this CD stops its spinning.
Local music fans will have the chance to hear the strong-voiced, Laurel-based performer Wednesday, June 30 at 8 p.m. That's when Alberding celebrates the arrival at a CD release party at Baldwin's Station & Pub (7618 Main St., Sykesville, 410-795-1041) Wednesday, June 30 at 8 p.m. Admission is $12.50.
An earlier CD, "Way Back," released in 2000, earned the musician critical accolades and various WAMMIE Award nominations. His newest work is largely centered on his Maryland heritage, but avoids coming off as mawkish or hokey. In fact, he actually breathes life into a song with the title "Going Down De Ocean" by blending a cleverly crafted story with a rousing chorus.
Other songs, like "Mary Had a Bad Day" and "The Gift," showcase Keith Dill's nimble, melodic fiddle playing. Alberding's acoustic guitar carries the ballad "Love at First Sight," which blends a country-tinged melody with rich, soulful vocals. The religious bent of many of the lyrics won't be for everyone, but his way with words reveals that beneath his denim wardrobe lurks the soul of a poet. - Patuxent Publishing

Bio

Maryland’s diverse landscape offers a variety of wonders to thrill the senses. From the beauty of the Blue Ridge to the salty spray of the eastern shores, the richness of Maryland’s unique character is felt in her history, in her community, and in the music of David A. Alberding.

With over 25 years of experience entertaining audiences, David has honed his craft performing at festivals and venues up and down the Eastern and Southern coasts. He delivers his award-winning songs with an awesome, compelling baritone and a contemporary folk guitar style that extends from intricate finger styled blues ballads to rocking rhythm-filled acoustic explorations.

David’s incredible vocal range, his mastery of the acoustic guitar, and control of the pen, have yielded an artist who wins over the ears and hearts of his audience with every note, chord, and story. David’s songwriting, though unique to itself, gives a nod to the storytelling abilities and poetic imagery of such artists as Jason Mraz, Chris Stapleton and Van Morrison. David writes songs that run the gamut of human emotion: from the sweet taste of newfound love to the mild bitterness of lost-love-lamented, from all-too-familiar stories of family weekend adventures to the sad struggle of a family coping with loss; each delivered with a promise to entertain and inspire.

David’s influences are as varied and eclectic as the landscape of contemporary folk itself. His strong deep voice and formidable guitar skills reflect years of study blended with the influences of masters such as BB King, James Taylor, and Joe Cocker, resulting in a range that combines nimble precision with unbridled power. The catalogue of inspiration David draws from reads like an iTunes playlist on shuffle:

Bill Withers, Lennon/McCartney, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Harry Chapin, Meat Loaf, AC/DC, Joni Mitchell, The Band, Michael Hedges, Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble, Casting Crowns, Jason Mraz, and many, many more.
