Bio

Armed with a laptop, a keyboard, autotune, and a keen ear for what’s catchy in music, producer and songwriter David McShea’s passion project “trvsh” (stylized as such) aims to entice and confuse any listener who may cross its path. David picked up music production as a hobby in his teen years, spending that time creating instrumental electronic dance music under a handful of musical aliases before consolidating all of his different musical interests into the trvsh brand in 2017. From there, he started to build on a variety of sonic influences including dance-pop, contemporary hip hop, industrial music and breakbeat EDM, and he has brought together introspection, earnestness, sarcasm and braggadocio into his own direct and nondescript lyrical style. trvsh in concept is a monument to noise, overproduction, instant gratification, and embracing the unexpected, and he has proven to be exceptionally good at twisting musical trends into his own image, including latin pop (“heatwave”), the obnoxiously grandiose and sharp dance-pop of producers such as RedOne (“comedown”), and the quiet yet detailed production of a Billie Eilish track (“don’t look up”).

In 2017, trvsh gave the world his first release, wreck child, an album filled with disorienting passages of noise, feedback, calm auditory textures, and short, desolate and depressive lyrics. After relocating from Durham, NC to Harrison, NY to study Studio Composition at the SUNY Purchase Conservatory of Music, he picked up more musical inspiration and immediately got to work writing, rewriting, and scrapping songs in many different styles. trvsh kicked off 2019 with two singles, “gone” and “like a person”, two contrasting tracks which have both proven to be enduring highlights in his discography. Under self-imposed pressure to release more music with regard to his newfound pop and hip hop influences, trvsh completed the five-track vignettes EP in the span of four weeks, eventually releasing it in August of 2019. He also contributed production to the song “I Work Harder” from Moose Call Entertainment’s short film To The End, and followed up vignettes with another five-track EP, press the button !, released in December of 2019.

trvsh is currently focusing his musical energy on his second album-length project to date, and he hopes to collaborate with more artists and play more live shows in 2020. When all is said and done, trvsh loves you, and wants to write your new favorite song one day.
