Bio
Bayliner is an American Pop Rock band that was founded in 2017 after songwriter Gabriel Newville met multi-instrumentalist Ben Mandell and the two converted their respective bedroom projects into a live band iteration of Newville’s project, Memoryboy. Gravitating towards the guitar driven production styles and sounds of the 60s and 70s, the band rebranded as Hexagon Cloud and played their brand of washed out Psychedelic Rock around Colorado.
The original line-up performed with Mandell on drums and fellow jazz musician Isaac Massey on bass throughout 2016. After Massey departed for Sweden, the duo enlisted drummer Jacob Franklin, and opted for a more modern sound centered around the piano.
Bayliner’s music weaves a refined harmony reminiscent of the musical acts that characterized pop music of the 20th century around a modern soundscape in a way that makes them accessible to a wide audience. Utilizing percussive loops, synthesizers, and sequencers, this band marries the past with the future in a new and exciting, yet familiar way.
