As a copyright holder myself, I fully understand the need and economic necessity of reducing piracy. The bill currently before congress referred to as “SOPA” is absolutely NOT the way to accomplish this, and would in fact charge me and anyone else who has ever posted footage of themselves singing a popular song online with A FELONY. In a nutshell: he beatboxs / throatsings while a computer offstage (which I am quite sure he would have programmed using MAX/MSP/JITTER) analyzes his vocalizations and projects lights in corresponding colors and intensities. I am so sick of having the word “Cort” (a fine drummer and steel pannist with whom I play and contact via email and SMS frequently) auto-replaced with “Cory”. That is just the most common of many, many iphone “fixes” that annoy me almost daily. Got back from a trip to Daytona this weekend to race in Beachpalooza. This is a 2 mile obstacle race on the beach complete with ball pits, trenches, scaling walls and fire hurdles. Yes, fire hurdles. Near Fayettville, WV is New River Gorge and the third largest bridge of its type in the world. Longest Span Bridge in North American Over the New River Well this part of the trip been just gorgeous, in that I’ve hiked down into a number of gorges. In May of 2010 I ventured up to Maine for a week to record a live solo show at the unbelievably gorgeous Stone Mt Arts Center in Brownfield which has hosted concerts from such greats as Bela Fleck, Martin Sexton, Ritchie Havens, the list goes on and on… The night before my big gig I was lucky enough to sneak onto NBC Channel 6′s “207″ for a song as well. Singer Songwriter Beatboxer Looper Ben Hammond (me again!) doing a medley of two Blackbird tunes, jazz standard “Bye Bye Blackbird” into “Blackbird” by the Beatles. I have been singing the praises (literally) of Martin Sexton for a while now, and here is just a bit more. His new album “Sugarcoating” is out, and there is a tune on there called “Boom Sh-Boom” that is funky and awesome (below is a clip of him introducing the world to this tune).
