Bio

Andy Trotter – Lead Guitar and Vocals

Actively gigging for the last 20 years, Andy grew up steeped in bluegrass & gospel music.  After receiving a guitar as a gift from his grandmother, he found his way through pop, blues, funk, and eventually rock music.  Self-taught, his playing reflects his love of the rock riff, while remaining true to a wide range of influences; from Van Halen to Louis Prima, Chuck Berry to Jerry Reed, Metallica to Johnny Cash, Beach Boys to James Brown. With Andy's attack of the fret board and such a wide variety of style and technique he creates the rock and roll versatility of Better Daze.

Phil Lewis – Drums and Vocals

Phil started playing drums at the age of 15.  His early influences were John Bonham, Ian Paice and Neil Peart.  Phil attended the Percussion Institute of Technology in Los Angeles, California from 1986 to 1987, where he studied jazz, big band, studio and fusion drumming and became a well-rounded drummer and musician with the assistance and encouragement of such instructors as Steve Smith, Ralph Humphrey and Joe Porcaro.  Upon graduating from PIT, Phil performed with several bands in the Mid-Michigan area ranging from jazz to hard rock.  Phil has opened for renowned artists such as REO Speedwagon, Blue Oyster Cult and Foghat, to name a few.  Phil's attention to the groove and feel of the music, as well as the raw energy he plays with, solidifies the sound that is Better Daze.

Randy Pipkins – Lead Vocals and Guitar

Randy has been playing music in the public eye since he was just thirteen years old. He has played in several bands, mostly classic rock and modern rock. Although a self-taught musician he gives credit to his father (a very accomplished guitar player) for his music ability. Randy takes pride in his ability to sing several different kinds of music and also lay down a solid rhythm guitar when it's required. His influences are all the greats like Steve Perry, Ronnie James Dio and Sammy Hagar. His ability to cover songs from these same influences gives Better Daze the variety of music that makes the show unique.

Steve Davis – Bass and Vocals

Steve has been playing Bass professionally since 1986 in a wide range of cover and original bands ranging from jazz to funk and classic rock. His technique and approach to the instrument was streamlined through his studies in jazz and music theory with a variety of professors and instructors of both Bass and Piano. Steve's influences include rock icons Geddy Lee, Steve Harris and Chris Squier - he enjoys blending these styles in a unique approach to the instrument that provides a strong undercurrent to the Better Daze band.
