Bio

Back Jewelz began writing at about 11-12 years of age, his love for hip-hop became one of the central aspects of his life as a teenager. Rap was a way for Black Jewelz to express himself when he couldnt otherwise. He had no role models growing up so rappers became his role models and mentors.  Favorites in the rap game, includes the likes of Eminem, 2Pac, Nas, Jay-z and DMX inspired him to write rhymes that Black Jewelz felt good about in relationship to others in his age group. When he had lunch money, hed skip eating lunch to save up the couple dollars to buy the next rap CD he wanted.  Though he is strongly in support of the value of education now, hed would even skip classes to go the music store and buy a new CD as soon as it was released.

After Black Jewelz read 2Pacs book The Rose That Grew From the Concrete, he was inspired to begin writing poetry. This became another outlet of expression that provided an ease of thought during the many trial and tribulations that occurred throughout his teenage years.  However, Black Jewelz was lost in the streets indulging in drugs, weapons and violence with constantly caused him to get into trouble and suspended in high school.  Just prior to his lifes turning point, Black Jewelz was arrested and expelled during the second week of his senior year in high school.  Somehow he managed to get back into school and graduate with the assistance of a tutor.

The process of turning his life around occurred when he was almost 18 years old.  His Mission began. Black Jewelz began performing at open mics, on street blocks, even at the Apollo, and wherever he could get an opportunity to be heard. Black Jewelz had something to say about his Mission while not letting the fact that he could not afford recording equipment or studio time deter him. What birth out of his lack was an amazing ability to write and perform cappella raps which earned him tremendous respect and catapulted him to local fame among rappers, artists, poets and fans of the arts. He would eventually build a makeshift studio in his closet with the bare essentials which afforded his passion for rap to drive him to accentuate excellence in artistry by whatever means necessary. Eventually, Black Jewelz worked with a professional engineer in a professional studio to develop the mixtape "Destiny Callz" in 2010.  The new album Black Market" is set to be released February 2014. Listeners can expect from Black Market a new level of performance that expresses the lyrical tone of cappella proficiency unique to Black Jewelz style of rap. It is anticipated to be a groundbreaking release which will enthrall listeners, old and new alike.
