Brian Cady-Welch (born June 29th 1992 in Framingham, MA) better known by his stage name “Lame Genius”, is an American Hip-Hop artist/entertainer from Norfolk County, Massachusetts. The son of Jamaican Immigrant David Welch (US ARMY) and Cambridge, Boston born Anne Cady; raised single handedly by his mother in a small 2 bedroom apartment in the 508 area. Genius started rapping at the age of 10 over the radio hits of the early 2000’s. However in 2006 at the age of 13 with the abrupt loss of childhood friend (A. Handy), Cady-Welch began taking music more serious, realizing tomorrow isn’t promised. Brian’s first official release “R.I.P” received positive reviews and over 5,000 plays in its first month, making the project a bitter-sweet success. Instantly Brian was regionally recognized for his music ability and vowed not to stop there. Now 23, Brian Cady-Welch aka Lame Genius is in his own words, “ready to take control.” Fresh of the 2-22-14 release of Lame Genius “#Team508” (over 1,000 downloads/5,000 plays) Genius is back with his 2nd Mixtape “Made In America” which surpassed his previous body of work in the first few days receiving well over 10,000 views and over 1,700 downloads almost instantly.
