Bio

The band Brothers consist of two best friends named John Joy Gosse
and Dallas Riley Boyd. Dallas and John grew up together in a little hole
of the northwest people call Jawbone Flats. They met each other back in
grade school through boys and girls club basketball, where they both
stared as benchwarmers. In middle school they both played in musical
classes. John had already been plying guitar for a while. While Dallas
had aspirations of being a great musician one day.

John:  The
first musical experience that I could remember, when Dallas was
involved, was when we both tried out for the 7th grade talent show. It
was try outs and Dallas came to me asking me to learn Bon Jovi’s “You
Give Love A Band Name” with two minutes until tryouts. Of coarse I told
him no and went on to play Nirvanas “Smells like Teen Spirit” with a
couple of friends.
Dallas and I really started to make kick
ass tunes together our freshman summer. We walked everywhere with our
guitars and just play anywhere and for anybody that would listen. After a
while I drifted away from Dallas and went through a “Country” faze. One
day when I was sitting at home, there was a knock at the door. I opened
it up and the saw my old best friend standing there.
        We
started to hang out a few nights a week until he took me to an open mic
night at “The Mystic Café”. I saw how much fun he was having, and
realized how much I missed making music. So I asked if he wanted to
start playing together again. That week I pulled out my drum set that my
parents had gotten me for Christmas my 8th grade year. I hadn’t played
it since so I was a little rusty at first, but I started to catch on
with countless hours of practice and YouTube videos. Me and Dallas would
practice almost every night and started to have some real catchy shit
coming from the garage. We started to write some songs (pretty kick ass
songs I might add) . The next thing I knew brothers was born..

Dallas:
I’ve been around music my whole life. From my oldest memory up until a
few years back I can remember my mom playing music through the house, I
would later on steal her CDs for myself. I can remember how music made
me feel, it was the perfect way to automate  my emotions whether its was
capturing a certain sadness or releasing the badassery in my situation.
I remember going to the EMP when I was young walking through the Jimmi
Hendrix experience and the Nirvana exhibit, and absolutely falling  in
love. Then we made our way to the 3rd floor where the visitors could
play  instruments, it changed me for good.

     When john
and I started hanging out, it was pretty cool because he showed the same
interest in music as I did. I remember feeling really cool when I
showed off my guitar playing our 8th grade year, in retrospect I now
know it was a shitty rendition of Iron Man. John has been my best friend
since we met, he showed me how to play guitar our freshman year. After
that I started booking solo shows for myself even though I could only
play one song. My shows were always shit but during those shows I
learned one of my biggest lessons in life “You have to suck… To be
good.” I also first realized my ability to entertain because it was
always a full house and people definitely weren’t coming to witness my
musical ability. I remember the first appearance  John and I made on
stage together, it was an awesome learning experience but it wasn’t
awesome. We went on hiatus for a while (2years). Then one day I showed
up at Johns house, and bing bang boom it’s a baby pachyderm. Here we
are. Brothers...
