About Byron Colborn

Byron Colborn (b. 5/27/1981, Santa Rosa, CA) is a baritone saxophonist, rooted in the jazz tradition. His playing is defined by a bright sound and creativity.

Byron is a former student of bay area legend, saxophonist Mel Martin. He was involved in many music programs in the northern California area including, Sacramento State University, UC Davis, American River College, and the Jazzschool (Berkeley) before transferring to Berklee College of Music (Boston, MA), where he graduated in Music Performance. While at Berklee, Byron studied with many teachers including George Garzone, Ralph Peterson, Herb Pomeroy and Frank Tiberi. Byron has since returned west and currently resides in Sacramento, CA, where he is active as a performer and teacher.
