Calico Wonderstone

Calico Wonderstone is a band from Coachella, California. It started in 2013, as a seven-piece "folk band," but ended up falling apart as members parted ways one by one as time went by. There was only three of us left; Ramses, Dominick, and Ricardo (me). We stuck around with hopes of continuing with the band and actually going somewhere with it. It wasn't until around the summer of 2014 where Dominick got a hold of a friend named Edgar, who played guitar and was interested in joining the band. I think he just showed up to our practice sessions and we just decided to take him in, and since then we have been a four piece band by the name of Calico Wonderstone. Ramses Lopez is our lead singer, also rhythm guitarist. Edgar Hernandez is our lead guitarist. Dominick Garcia is our bassist. And I, Ricardo Saavedra, am the drummer. We have been together since late 2014, but we didn't actually start getting gigs till about early 2015. In our city, there are a lot of backyard shows that go on. Our first show ever was Calico Wonderstone was in front of a small crowd in March of 2015, if I'm not mistaken. Since then, we've played a number of backyard shows and a few bar gigs here and there. By the end of summer 2015, we released an EP that we eventually deleted from every platform we ever uploaded it to. We realized our music just wasn't as good as it could be, so we decided to get rid of it. I left the band for several months due to some stuff that was going on. We were always passionate about the band, but in the end all we were doing was making lame music and playing lame shows, just like every band around us. Now in late 2017, we've come a long way in terms of progressing as a band, in every aspect. Our sound has evolved; we take composing a lot of more serious than we used to by really putting our hearts into it and making the best music we could. We're working on our image and how we put ourselves out there. We're trying to be the topic of conversation in our hometown, since people don't really pay attention to the music out here. Overall, we're trying to do things right now. Our genre now would be Alternative/Rock. If I could describe our sound, I'd say it's kind of dark. Kind of fast-paced sometimes, with some slower-tempo songs here and there as well. It's very explosive overall. We're currently composing as much as we could, with six complete songs aiming for a total of ten to release our debut album. We're all about to be 20, we're also in school and working on the side. Anyway, our ultimate goal is to take over the world (and play Coachella).
