"“PARTS BECOMING WHOLE”: INSIDE COLD WEATHER COMPANY’S CINEMATIC & WONDROUS 4TH ALBUM ‘COALESCENCE’"

These past two years have given us all plenty of time to reflect: On our lives, on our place in the world, on the past, present, and future. Who are we; who do we want to be? Where are we now; where would we like to be, in a year, in five years? Fittingly, Cold Weather Company’s fourth album – written and recorded during the COVID-19 pandemic – contains a treasure trove of intimate reflection. It’s undeniably a record of the times, and one that approaches some relatively intense subjects with a calm and centered disposition. Warm and wondrous, Coalescence finds Cold Weather Company reveling in a rich array of alt-folk sound as they embrace the world around them, and the world within. - Mitch Mosk - Atwood Magazine

"STEREO EMBERS EXCLUSIVE PREMIER w/INTERVIEW – “Coalescence” the New Single/Title Track from Cold Weather Company’s Upcoming Fourth Album"

New Jersey residents Brian Curry, Jeff Petescia and Steve Shimchick, dba Cold Weather Company, traffic in a style of classic American harmonizing that positions them along a spectrum running from the Righteous Brothers through the Byrds, the (vastly underrated) Association and all the way to the backwoods cabin magic-making of Justin Vernon as Bon Iver on For Emma, Forever Ago, which we fully realize was a multi-tracked solo effort but nonetheless belongs in that class as well as any. It’s also a relevant marker for the work that the CWC trio have been offering since 2014’s debut album Somewhere New, sharing as it does a similarly resonant and rich – and richly natural – emotionalism that can raise the hair on your arms while eliciting shivers of recognition in your heart. Soon to celebrate the arrival of their fourth – and first label-issued – album Coalescence (dropping October 8th via Deko Music), we’re thrilled to be presenting the album’s third and final pre-release single that just happens to double as the new album’s title track, following on the heels of the lavishly received “Golden Hour” and “Movement.” - Glide Magazine

"35 N.J. Bands You Need To Hear"

If you are looking for a band to warm you through the rest of winter, Cold Weather Company has you covered. The blend of folk-inspired guitar and piano is delightful, and Brian Curry voice is a smoky sledgehammer, an American Marcus Mumford. The band’s second full-length “A Folded Letter” is so vivid and smartly written, it’s borderline maddening. Listen to their epic single “Wide-Eyed.”

"Makin Waves with Cold Weather Company"

The New Brunswick alternative-folk trio Cold Weather Company are New Jersey’s Crosby, Stills & Nash, except a lot younger and better looking!

With their second LP, “A Folded Letter,” they continue to impress with dynamic songwriting and arrangements, thought-provoking lyrics and gorgeous harmonies. The follow-up to 2015’s “Somewhere New” debut also boasts lush, intricate vocal designs, sparse instrumentation of only two acoustic guitars and an electric piano for the most part, and passions expressed about our relationships with each other and the environment. The 13 collaborations between keyboardist Steve Shimchick and guitarists Brian Curry and Jeff Petescia feature three vocal leads from each, but the standout track is the shared lead on the quirky, quick-fingered folk-rap “Unbound.”

Another standout is the closing epic “Gettysburg,” a haunting account of the Civil War battle also captured in an interesting video of the trio’s trip to the historic battlefield and included on Spotify’s 99-song “Atmospheric Acoustic” playlist. The track is one of two propelled by the surprisingly subdued drum stylings of Lowlight’s heavy hitter Colin Ryan. The other, the Olde English-tinged “Regeneration” sung by Curry, is even more unlikely for Ryan and demonstrates his diversity. - Bob Makin - MyCentralJersey

"'From Rest'"

“From Rest” – Cold Weather Company. The rushing, passionate piano that undergirds this track counterpoints (and then matches) the speedy guitar melodies here, resulting in a torrential whirlwind of a song. - Independent Clauses

"NATURAL CHORDS: COLD WEATHER COMPANY"

Rutgers University is known for its football programs + extensive food options (editor's note: honeygrow is now one of them!), but the music being made on campus is what caught our attention. Cold Weather Company is a trio of Rutgers alums who connected in 2011 over music + nature, striving to convey their appreciation for the outdoors through their harmonic vocals, soothing piano + rhythmic guitar melodies. We were fortunate enough to sit in on a pop-up practice session at Hidden Grounds Coffee + afterwards we chatted with the band about what inspires their music, how their journey got started + where they hope it'll take them. - Honeygrow
