"“Not My Time” by Crane Song"

Searching online for Crane Song proved to be very fruitful. All kinds of cranes from origami to mechanical were found, including David Hill of Superior, Wisconsin’s gear company under the same name. Conversely, Crane Song is a band from Berkeley, California but still is nothing short of “superior” (Joke quota achieved). Normalcy is an album of garage rock jams that underwent a sex change to disguise themselves as a collection of indie gems. If the fuzz of a garage rock tune got a little emotional and cried itself alternative, you’d have Crane Song. Claiming that “there’s no moral, there’s no story to tell”, lead singer Maxwell Wine kicks everything off immediately on Normalcy with “Not My Time”. Vocals slathered in reverb fill your ears over a bouncy guitar rhythm throughout the track, as what can only be described as a letter to an ex-girlfriend gets read out loud to you melodically. Each verse sounds light and lovely, until lines such as “she’s got the charisma of a wet cigarette” knock you down and force feed hard hitting distortion down your throat. Across 3 minutes of changing tempos and post-breakup lyrics “Not My Time” is the very promising start to Crane Song’s debut, proving that it just might be “their time”.

Bio

BIO: Crane Song is a three piece indie alternative band that hails from Berkeley, CA. This three piece is comprised of (from left): Logan McIntire (Bass), Maxwell Wine (Guitar//Vocals), and Forrest Evans (Drums). With their newly self-recorded debut LP entitled ‘Normalcy’ they feel that they have made something truly magical.

Crane Song’s sound incorporates many archetypes from the Rock/Alt/Indie canon and gives it a fresh twist. This is characteristic of a band that genuinely puts innovation at the forefront of their contribution to the genre of rock. With their inspiring and cathartic lyrical style and gratuitous use of melody and dynamics, Crane Song is a sure bet to excite any crowd.

Although a newly formed band, Crane Song has managed to generate a robust buzz in their hometown as well as a sufficient web presence on their own. A recently published review and interview, regarding Crane Song, was posted on the site ‘Drink Cold Soda’. If there is anything that can be understood, it is that, with their skill and adaptability as artists, combined with their drive to succeed in the music industry, Crane Song is an excellent booking choice for any modern venue.
