DR DB KUSH

DR DB KUSH (formally known as Mr. DoughBoy / Dj FxP / Freddy X Pills Leader of Hilltop Klick) was born and raised in Denver, Co to a single mother, absent father, and a devoted grandmother. As an only child, Dr DB Kush would dance and perform for the family. Once, after watching Marvin Gaye perform live on tv, he told his grandmother, “I will be a STAR”. At age 12 Dr Db Kush applied for, and received his 1st musical licence release for the song, “Knock on Wood.” Soon after, he formed the group, Touch Of Class with childhood friends. Winning contests across the state, Dr Db Kush got his first real taste of entertaining the public.

After a brief stint in the ARMY, Dr Db Kush (DoughBoy) and friend “Top Dog” started the group, Hilltop Klick. In early 1990, Hiltop Klick dropped a series of local classics like, “Let The Dogs Loose”, “Up In Smoke” “Straight From The HillTop” “Addict” garnering national attention from labels like Uptown Records, Sony, 40 Acres and a Mule, Universal and Def Jam. In the late 90’s, Hilltop Klick changed hip hop in Colorado by adding performers based on their skills, rather than where they were from.. The restructured Hilltop Klick dropped hits like “For The Love”, “Toast” and “Crack It Open” which gained them a distribution from SW. Distribution slated to release Oct. 30th 2001 but was halted by the 9/11 terrorist attack. Shortly after, the Hilltop Klick split.

After the split, Dr Db Kush (DoughBoy) rebranded himself as a solo artist and followed his passion, weed. He recorded songs, hosted and DJed events for the marijuana community. Dr DB Kush also started speaking at legislative Sessions, fighting for Caregivers and Veterans rights to have safe access to medical marijuana. In addition, he set up and runs #1BluntRadio, Kush Chronicals and recently launched Blunt Tv Denver, which runs on Denver Open Media on Comcast Cable tv 56, 57, 219 and blunttvdenver.com.

The rebranding of Dr DB Kush into a solo artist launched his career to another level, becoming the #1 weed artist in the region (#KingOfColoradoWeedMusic) performing at events like Bong-A-Thon, Canna-Lympics, Secret Cup Mountain Cup, Chromic Con, Rock The Canyon, WeedStock, 710 Cup, and the Munchie Cup. His songs, Can You Smell My Sack and All I Need Is Weed was featured on MTV's True Life "My Parents Love Their Weed" and “Only Smoke the Best” was featured at the Hightimes awards ceremony. He’s become the face of legal weed, as seen on networks across the globe to include CNN, HLN, TMZ, World Star and Entertainment Tonight.

If that’s not enough, Dr DB Kush was featured in the freestyle mixtape, “Diares Of A Lyricist”. In fact, he had over 20 mixtape features and 300 plus shows between 2013, 2014. His 1st Solo album, “Five Minutes Of Fame” and 2nd album, “Diamond In Da Rough” with Smash Hits “All I Need is Weed” “Can You Smell My Sack” featuring John Doe and sexy R&B mix “Smells Like Rain” and “Last Name” are available now on Itunes and gaining national attention. Dr DB Kush continues his relentless, no quit attitude that’s helped him last 25 years in the industry and is getting stronger every day.
