Crocheting: Infinity Scarves

Late this past summer, I decided to start crocheting again, after a hiatus of about 20 years. This weekend we hopped on the MetroNorth Hudson line and rolled on up to Dia:Beacon to get an eyeful of contemporary visual art.  I was particularly moved by Joseph Beuys’ mixed-media sculptural environment/installation, Aus Berlin: Neues vom Kojoten (From Berlin: News from the Coyote).  Beuys is a creative inspiration to me, and I was thrilled to stand next to this work.  His installation was… (read more)

On Friday 23 July, I attended a peformance of Christian Marclay’s “Ephemera” at the Whitney Museum. “Ephemera” consists of fragments from Marclay’s collection of clippings, candy wrappers, ads, and sundry disposable printed items decorated with musical notes, assembled into a score that can be organized and interpreted using one or more instruments.
