GRASSLANDS

GRASSLANDS is an award-winning Southern California premier bluegrass band made up of 5 multi-talented veterans of music. Members in the group have toured throughout the United States and overseas, performed at amusement parks and folk radio programs, worked as musical accompaniment for theater and on television commercials, and various other functions.

GRASSLANDS has appeared at many major California bluegrass festivals, including Grass Valley, Huck Finn Jubilee, Good Old Fashioned, Parkfield, and Route 66, Viva Las VeGrass festivals, McCabe's Guitar Shop, featured band for the Los Angeles and San Diego bluegrass clubs, and KSON live Radio.

GRASSLANDS’ eclectic repertoire takes inspiration from a wide variety of musical genres including traditional Folk and Bluegrass, new Bluegrass, Swing, Country, and Rock-N-Roll classics, all performed in a bluegrass fashion. This always brings their performance-level style of entertainment to a diverse and enthusiastic audience!

The members of GRASSLANDS are: Shelah Spiegel: fiddle/vocals-has toured US & Japan, worked on stage plays, commercials, amusement parks, and is a music educator; Jim Cooper: guitar/vocals-is well-known in the Los Angeles music scene for his hot leads; Tim O'Brien: dobro/vocals-has played and recorded locally; Dave Richardson: banjo-has-toured and recorded with many celebrities, including the Don Ho Show in Hawaii; and Dennis Witcher: bass- has toured and recorded with many celebrities, including Spencer Davis. They represent the best of the Orange and Los Angeles Counties' bluegrass musicians.
