Bio

Jake Morse is an independent hip-hop artist and producer from a small town in the South
Shore of Massachusetts. His music is mostly inspired by sounds from alternative rock and
electronic music, but a little bit from every genre.

He started out playing drums in a rock band called Orange Bass with a friend and his twin
brother when he was about 10 years old. He continued playing drums with various friends
in experimental projects, as well as in the school band until 8th grade.

Jake began rapping over his own drum beats in 2011, his freshman year of high school. He
tracked drums and vocals on a free recording app on his iPod touch, releasing a self-titled
mixtape on Datpiff.com in early 2012 rhyming over mostly his own drum beats, but also
Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, and Cool Kids hits, as well as a Dr. Dre beat.

In his sophomore year of high school, he was given an iPad for school use, which came
with GarageBand. He began producing his own full instrumentals on the app, and released
a mixtape in which he rapped mostly over his own beats. The 2012 tape, also released on
Datpiff, was jokingly titled "Thug Lyfe" and featured a friend's cat as the album art. He
enjoyed a small buzz around the school, but not much more.

"Produced by Jake," a 19 track mixtape, slated for an early 2014 release, was scrapped,
and all music by Jake was removed from Datpiff, SoundCloud, YouTube, and any other
sites in an effort to have a fresh start, with all around better sound quality. After getting a
MacBook, Logic Pro, a professional mic and interface, and soundproofing a closet for use
as a booth, Jake began producing and recording all new tracks for what would eventually
become the "Smile EP."

On August 2, 2015, he released the self-shot, self-edited, video for the self-produced single
"Turnip." This song was not a promotional single for the EP, but rather one that wasn't going
to make the project. In the video, there are three "clones" of Jake which progressively come
in and rap to one another, sort of signifying the various sides of his personality.

UP NEXT FOR JAKE IS HIS DEBUT, “SMILE - EP” OUT NOW.
