"Jazzmyn RED Releases New Single "Positive Vibes Only""

Singer/songwriter and lyricist Jazzmyn RED is back and releasing her first single, “Positive Vibes Only”, off of her upcoming sophomore project, Writing HERstory.

Hailing from Taunton, MA, Jazzmyn has a sultry, candid, and at times rebellious style that she attributes to her early influences of artists like Tupac Shakur, Lauryn Hill, Eve, Alicia Keys and Mary J. Blige.

An interesting fuse of Hip Hop Soul and Rock, Jazzmyn’s debut project, Caught RED Handed, is a compilation of unreleased material that showcases her penchant for Golden Era Hip-Hop, coupled with her personal tails of triumph and tribulations, all while showcasing her raw, gritty style.

The album’s unique sound caught the ear of a few heavyweights and led to Jazzmyn sharing the stage with Jadakiss, Cassidy, Gunplay, Fred The Godson and Mims.

Riding high on the underground success of her first album, Jazzmyn is back with her sophomore project, Writing HERstory; a vocal rite of passage that combines her songwriting savvy, with spoken word interludes that weave between each track, bringing the full concept of ‘her story’ to fruition. Writing HERstory becomes available through all digital retailers and streaming outlets on January 16th. - The Source Magazine

"Jazzmyn RED is All About "Positive Vibes Only" on New Single"

The fine line between poetry and rap to me has always been blurry. While literary purist will object to the vast similarities between the two art form, I dare say it’s all about perspective. I’m not a poet or super deep into it but I do recognize similarities when it comes to rap. The extensive use of a distinct style, rhythm which ultimately births an emotion that the listener can tap into. Once the message is passed and the listener can connect-say no more- congratulations, work well done.

MA bsed poet/emcee Jazzmyn RED brings an interesting vibe (no pun intended) on her new single “Positive Vibes Only”, which is a feel good jazz influenced gem (courtesy of The Arcitype). Jazzmyn RED taps into her positive chakra and laced the backdrop with inspirational quotes with a veteran like confidence.

“…Depression is a muthaf**ka, Pains get real/ But a change of mind can make the wounds all heal…

….Free from negativity, positive vibes only, I know you feel alone but know you’re never lonely…”

Over the length of 3 verses, Jazzmyn RED touches on different situations and like the title of the song says, only the positive elements get the forefront. She may not tag herself a role model but she has definitely proven to be an inspirational being with this uplifting gem.

“…Look in the mirror, babygirl you’re a blessing/ Dark skin, light skin, it don’t matter your complexion

Cos we all queens, power perfected and attention ain’t s**t if you ain’t being respected…”

Check it out right away. “Positive Vibes Only “ is off Jazzmyn RED’s forthcoming LP Writing HERstory.

“Positive Vibes Only” is now available for stream. Stay tuned for more info. and music from Jazzmyn’s sophomore project, Writing HERstory, which is set to drop Jan. 16th, 2017 (Martin Luther King Day). - The Word is Bond

"Jazzmyn RED- Writing HERstory"

"I don’t want anybody to feel voiceless, and if I can use my voice to make those stories heard, then that’s exactly what I’m here to do.” – Jazzmyn RED

Writing HERstory is the honest, soulful, and emotionally gripping new album from Jazzmyn RED, a multi-talented artist hailing from Taunton, Mass. who deftly blends genres and styles to create her own unique sound.

The music on Writing HERstory is shaped by RED’s personal experiences and talents in addition to her love for musical greats like Tupac, Lauryn Hill, and Queen Latifah. RED then combines all that with a mixture of R&B, Neo soul, and Hip-Hop to create the album’s instantly engaging atmosphere. She’s also included spoken-word interludes throughout the project to showcase her poetic talents while further driving home her message-fueled narrative.

RED’s story is one that touches on a number of topics, though they all strike a similar theme of rising above the hate to turn tragedy into triumph. That goes for when she grits her teeth and flaunts a versatile flow on the banger “Stay Grindin’,” details struggles with substance abuse on “Fade Out,” and promotes honesty and self-confidence on lead single “Positive Vibes Only.”

And what’s crazy to think about is that the album almost never happened. As RED tells it, she almost quit music entirely some years ago while going through “personal storms.” But she was saved by her close friend and a fellow emcee, Carlos “Loko Los” Rivera.

“He pushed me to my limits and never allowed me to give up on music, or myself. For that he’ll always be family,” she says of Rivera, who died tragically in November 2016. “If it wasn’t for him finding me all those years ago I wouldn’t have accomplished any of this.”

It’s in honor of Rivera’s legacy—in addition to her parents, who also pushed her to pursue art—that we’re able to hear Writing HERstory. And everyone who listens will agree that we’re lucky to have the opportunity to do so. As this record makes very clear, Jazzmyn RED is a special talent.Writing HERstory is now available through iTunes and all major digital retailers and streaming services. - Hip Hop Since 1987
