{BIO} JL works as a freelance drummer & private instructor in CT & MA. His specialty is recording great drum tracks! As a true musical chameleon & 'Groove Specialist', he's able to tailor his playing to fit almost any situation. His self-produced videos have been viewed thousands of times over on more than 40 websites across the globe! Along with having a signature pocket & refreshingly open sound, he's taught over 400 students & performed at over a hundred venues on the East Coast, including dozens of festivals within New England. Most recently, JL was invited to perform at Boston Soul fest 2011. He's also served as a judicator for the International Association of Jazz Educators & Guitar Center's national 'Drum Off' competition! He currently performs around New England with freelance projects & The Enemy Concept (a live alternative hip-hop band). He's written two books, 'Fundamental Rhythms' & 'The Groove'. JL's also a Life Member of the Funk Phi Mob Drum line in North Carolina & a Berklee College of Music Graduate (with a concentration in Drum Set Performance). He's a member & clinician of Drummers United & the CT Drummers Association. His teachers have included: Alan Dawson, Dave Cowan, Steve Wilkes, Larry Finn, John Ramsay, Jackie Santos & Kenwood Dennard. He lives in West Hartford, CT with his wife & daughter. |
