About Jon Abel
Dallas, TX
Christian
Growing up in South Louisiana with no natural pull or interest in music, Jon never imagined becoming a musician, much less doing it for a living. His parent’s gift of an Ibanez acoustic guitar for his high school graduation was so out of the blue that Jon nearly pawned it to get what every 18-year-old fresh out of high school needs. Cash! Jon never stepped into that pawnshop, but rather began to learn how to play this foreign instrument, write and sing songs with it. Opportunities to work with producers Mike Busbee (Rascal Flatts, Katy Perry, Switchfoot) on one of his first independent albums and Cary Pierce (Jackopierce, Chris Tomlin, Jack Ingram) on his two latest full length projects led to a song cut on Christ Tomlin’s Grammy nominated and RIAA Gold selling See The Morning album in 2006. Signing with Universal Music-Brentwood Benson Music followed and his songs have since been featured on ABC’s Private Practice, Sixsteps Record’s Passion-Everything Glorious CD, The Museum’s (BEC Records) Let Love Win album, WOW Hits 2011, and Worship Leader Magazine’s SongDISCovery compilations. Jon’s most recent album is called RESCUE, a four song EP inspired by an accident that threatened his entire career. Based in Dallas, TX with his wife Sue and their three children, Jon is Artist in Residence at Highland Park Presbyterian Church where he leads music at their 1105 Gathering on Sunday mornings. Whether it’s leading at 1105 or playing concerts and events nation-wide, Jon’s heart is to help people see the greatness, wonders and glory of God through his music, family, and community. |
