Jonas Alvarez and his band of heavy hitters have just released a new album "Mírame"! Check it out on iTunes or come out to a show!  https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/mirame/id888321988

Jonas Alvarez is ranked as one of the Best Latin Traditional Bands in Austin and has been recognized at the Austin Music Awards for several years.  Jonas Alvarez Band performs around Texas and weekly in the Austin area.  They are entertaining, energetic and can perform for any event!

Jonas Alvarez songs and sound are a rhythmic blend of Latin Americana Roots Music. He writes and performs original music along with new arrangements of traditional Mexican, Spanish and Latin American songs. His lyrics and music are a fusion of musical genres, cultures and ideas that all people around the world can understand. His songwriting shares family history, his experiences and stories of everyday life.

In addition:

Jonas co-founded the group Double J Trio.  They recorded two CDs of traditional covers with Del Bravo Records in San Antonio, Texas and performed for the "Americanos" book signing by actor and author Edward James Olmos at the
Mexic-Arte Museum in Austin, Tx.

Jonas began his journey developing his "sound" for his original songs by forming the five piece band ALTEZA in Austin, Texas.

ALTEZA performed all over Texas.  They performed at the Northgate Music Festival in College Station and the Pecan Street Festival in Austin.  ALTEZA was named Best World Music Band at the 2005 Austin Music Awards. This earned them two performances with Del Castillo, Best Latin Traditional Band, at Time Square in College Station and at La Zona Rosa in Austin and created other opportunities for people to hear Jonas' original material.

ALTEZA recorded their LP Mexico to Texas which was produced and recorded at Smilin' Castle Studios by Rick Del Castillo. Jonas' songs have received airplay on 91.7 KOOP Radio Station in Austin and 89.1 KEOS Bryan, Texas.

Jonas' songs Curandera Woman, Vida Sin Tu Amor, Sueños de Alegría and Mírame were highly recognized by the Austin Songwriter's Contest.  "Sueños de Alegría" was a semi-finalist at the International Songwriters Competition in Nashville. This earned Jonas a Showcase at the Folk Alliance Conference in Memphis.

He signed a publishing deal as a songwriter with Brandi Warden's Moonkiss Music in Austin, Texas and the Austin Mayor proclaimed October 18, 2007 "Jonas Alvarez Day."
