"Jonathan Auerbach Partners with Intrepid Fallen Heroes"

Rock musician Jonathan Auerbach of Boston, MA, proudly partners with The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund in a shared commitment in support of the men and women of the armed services. The Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, a not-for-profit organization and national leader in supporting the men and women of the United States Armed Forces and their families, has provided over $120 million in support for the families of military personnel lost in service to our nation, and for severely wounded military personnel and veterans. The Fund most recently opened the National Intrepid Center of Excellence to support the research, diagnosis, and treatment of military personnel and veterans suffering from traumatic brain injury. Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund Offical Website: www.fallenheroesfund.org
Jonathan’s bold new single, “Brave Woman, Brave Man” – from his new Nashville-recorded rock CD “HEARD” – is a salute to all our American men and women in uniform serving overseas at great cost and sacrifice to defend the United States and freedom at home and around the world.

The song and lyrics are available for listening and for purchase at www.jonathanauerbach.com and through Amazon, iTunes and all other major digital distributors, with 100% of the proceeds it generates going directly to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund.

A noted recording artist and powerhouse performer... Jonathan’s award-winning writing and all-original rock - soulful stories, gutsy guitars, and strong vocals - has garnered worldwide radio play, press praise, and a notable USA and European fan base. Taking a stand… Jonathan’s outreach through his music has boosted causes such as Habitat for Humanity and notably, "music therapy" in cancer care at Boston’s Dana-Farber Cancer Institute – donating and raising money, raising awareness, public speaking and teaching master classes in music performance to kids with cancer.

“I’m honored to partner with the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund, an outstanding national organization with a great cause, and I’m pleased to give my support to their leading work serving those in critical need who proudly serve our country,” said Jonathan Auerbach. “My song “Brave woman, Brave man” honors the valor of our American military personnel - fathers and mothers, brothers and sisters, sons and daughters - who fight our country’s wars, while underscoring every soldier’s hope for an end to war and a safe return home.”

“We are extremely grateful that Jonathan Auerbach has chosen to champion our important cause and shares in our mission to support the men and women of the armed forces and their families,” said David Winters, President of the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. “Jonathan, who has an incredible platform from which to speak, will help us alert countless individuals to our critically important work for the military and veteran communities.”

"Walkin' The Rock Talk"

When Jonathan Auerbach takes the stage, no one doubts that he will put on a good show. The audience senses it before he utters word, before he strums a chord.

Auerbach had just returned from a five-week tour in Portugal where audiences would not let him off the stage. Averaging several encores a night at top venues and clubs, he was on a performance high. Shortly after, on a drizzly, lilting Saturday afternoon in Cambridge, Mass., he premiered songs from his upcoming album for a smaller, less rowdy audience, at a benefit concert for the music therapy program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Playing solo on his acoustic, he delivered the same level of explosive energy that left them in Portugal raving for more.

It is enlivening to see an artist with the type of fervor that Auerbach puts into every pulse of every song. Imbuing his entire physicality and being into his music, he gives you nothing less than old fashioned, timeless rock n’ roll…

“We’re going to Nashville!”
It was October of 2002, in the living room of Jonathan Auerbach’s chalet/sanctuary nestled in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, a sort of antithesis to the hectic life of a touring singer-songwriter. He had just finished performing his song “Bard Among the Bums” for a one-man audience, the catalyst that would trigger a change in the course of his life and career. That man was Shawn Jones, a friend and fellow guitar slinger. Auerbach had approached Jones, asking his friend to give him his honest, uncensored opinion as to whether he had a chance in the music business. Jones’ response: a whole-hearted, unabashed “YES!”

Three days later, they were in Nashville…

Like it or not, in business, and especially in the music world, looks and initial impressions count. For starters, if it always comes back to the wardrobe, then Auerbach knows how to dress. The first thing a reporter noticed when meeting him was he wore a very cool shirt (the sort of shirt that says, ‘It may be a weekday morning, but I am still a rock star’). Once, when he entered a restaurant in New Orleans sporting his summer attire (a pair of beige cotton slacks, his shoes a stone colored, hipped up version of white bucks), the maitre’d could not help but exclaim, “Ankle décolletage!”

In fashion, you must know the rules of the game in order to take risks. In rock and roll, you must understand the laws of music in order to break the rules. And as a man who has soloed through life, Auerbach knows how to strategically break the rules. He is a “self-made man.” While he exudes the sort of charisma that commands attention, it’s not just charisma that got Auerbach where he is today, a musician and performer who is respected internationally in the music business. “It came hard earned,” he says, quoting a lyric from of one of his original songs, “Fall Reaching.”

At the height of a lengthy career as a sought-after award-winning travel writer, editor and publisher, Auerbach made the decision to dive head first into a music career. During the final years of his writing career, he felt the restlessness that often preludes an epiphany. He had always played music, and he knew he was good. When he began writing his own original material, he knew it could be really good. So when he finally “auditioned” his material that fateful day in New Hampshire, he was just waiting for the green light.

Yet the gravity of this choice was monumental. To walk away from the stability of a successful career, to face the economic consequences of such a huge life change was daunting, even for a chronic risk-taker. Auerbach did it; and he did it professionally, without burning any bridges. “The (career) transition and the winding-down was both ethical and methodical,” he says. “I always delivered when I made a commitment and always took seriously being a consummate professional on all levels.” Auerbach the journalist eventually became “Mr. No,” refusing to accept a constant flow of projects and assignments. His theory is, say no to a million things, but when you say yes, you had better deliver with a nuclear explosion.

Auerbach’s decision to enter the music business triggered protests, some well meant, from many in his close network of friends and professionals. “When I decided to chuck it for Rock & Roll, I was prepared for the Huns to invade,” he laughs. Yet he converted former doubters into ardent fans, among them seasoned music professionals such as Rick Morrison, the former National Modern Rock Director and Vice President of Promotion V2 Records. Upon hearing Auerbach’s first album, he commented, “Jonathan’s ‘Launch’ takes me to a place far, far away. Jonathan’s music is nothing short of entrancing. One can’t help but lose themselves in his prolific world.”

Joseph Rosendo, the producer and publisher of Travelscope Radio and Publication, said the album was the freshest marriage of music and lyrics that he had heard in years: “In an era of repetit - by Jenai M. Engelhard

"It's a Hit, Man!"

IT'S A HIT, MAN!

Have you Heard Jonathan? For me it was on the stern of a 38' sloop in Cane Garden Bay beneath a Caribbean canopy an age ago. Jonathan let loose a musical soul, entertaining the swashbucklers. A time later I heard Jonathan had gone professional with the music. Curious, I searched him out, found him playing a gig in a coffee shop in a one street town upstate New Hampshire. Five people when I walked in and I made six. Jonathan played to us like we were 600 – full out rock and roll with humor in between. Impressive…

I grabbed his first release Launch. That cd played me across miles of Americana on a 2003 cross-country camping trip. Since then Jonathan has toured in the States and in Europe, and more importantly continued to be prolific. Jonathan's 2007 release Siren Call blew me away. Every time I sit in for a rock and roll themed show on WOMR, Jonathan Auerbach is on my play list. For many months, two Siren Call beauties Keepin' It Real and The Dark opened and closed Funny Thing on WOMR.

Range, depth, beats, twists, and licks… On Heard, Jonathan Auerbach deftly mixes a voice of piercing lyrics with soaring music. The guitars of Jonathan, Tim Galloway, and the bass of George Hawkins Jr. put fingers in motion on your air-guitar as your feet slide on the floor. Angelo Collura's earthy drums give the hips the bounce they need to be free…

Heard opens with Good Now, a range-showcasing tune. Jonathan then sets the show a'going with Etiquette, “I'll be a man about it and make you forget your etiquette.” Still Going Strong smacks at cop-outs and what happens when you don't. The bridge to the build is the Jamaican -tinted The Soul: we're not alone, baby. Now buckle your seat belts, ahh forget that, you'll just bust them out! Distant Drumming awakens another level! Animal Attraction soars to the heart of the matter. With “It's not who takes that ride, but who returns,” Overboard is a Nantucket sleighride. Man Gone Mad, one of my very favorites, 'cause it could be me! Plus we get these mesmerizing background vocals from Carole Charlin. In Maris, Me And The Sea, Jonathan sets his spyglass on what's happening now. Rock and Roll and the troops - Brave Woman, Brave Man pays homage to once girls and boys now caught in the nightmare. Man, how does he top this? And then I Heard A Better Music, a celebratory swing of hidden sorrow -- it's a hit, man. The whole shebang from beginning to end, oh yeah, the end, with Thin Ice, Jonathan is acoustically back in that Tortola harbor singing to the pirate in all of us. Beautiful…

"SIREN CALL" REVIEWS:

BEST NEW MUSIC I'VE HEARD IN YEARS...

I got Jonathan Auerbach's new CD, Siren Call, back in July. Best new music I've heard in years. It's a dancing ride, man. "Keepin' It Real" opens my radio show and "The Dark" closes it. Come alive...
- Tom Brogan, producer/host of the "Funny Thing" Radio Show, WOMR (Mar 9, 2008)

HONEST, PURE & SOULFUL!
A PASSIONATE, TIMELESS RECORDING.

Having worked as a record label exec for 15 years, I've seen a lot of artists set back their careers with the release of their 2nd record, often referred to as the "Sophmore Slump". I believe this happens when many artists "overthink" the entire process when making the record. On Siren Call, Jonathan Auerbach's 2nd release, he "underthought" it in a way that proves just how prolific and honest an artist he truly is. Instead of overplaying/overproduction on Siren Call, (JA) plays, writes and sings like his life depended on "transfixing" these songs and messages into the hearts and ears of his devoted fanbase. For those who have already set sail with JA, you know where I'm coming from. For those about to come on board for the first time, climb on deck and get ready to embark on an invigorating journey about experiences in which we can all relate. High praise to the rippin' band that backs JA on Siren Call, and to the infinitely soulful Pam McCann whose ethereal & angelic voice will haunt you long after you've come ashore.

HONEST ROCK WITH WITH A SOPHISTICATED BENT

On "Siren Call," the songwriting, musicianship, production, engineering and honest delivery of this album speaks for itself. Unique male vocals offer a refreshing departure from the throngs of predictable vocalists and phrasing choices out there fatiguing the ear. The songs flow into each other smoothly while maintaining a sense of adventure. The aptly entitled Siren Call definitely lures the listener to some uncharted deep waters and exotic ports. Suggested Listening volume: crashing waves!

MEETS ALL ROOTS ROCK CRITERIA
Jam Magazine, October 2004

Roots rock music needs several things to make it work. It starts with strong rock rhythms presented in their raw state - unadulterated by too much electronic gimmickry. Like any good rock music, it needs musical and vocal hooks that catch the ear and the mind. Finally, the lyrics have to, at least, give the impression that you should think about them - either because they are telling a story or because they have something semi-profound to say. Jonathan Auerbach's new album, Launch, meets all of the criteria. This is one of those albums that grows on you little by little. Some songs are headed in the direction of classic roots rockers like John Hiatt. One of my favorites is "Distant Drumming." It's got all the pieces here. It starts with a strong beat that makes me tap my feet. The repeated musical and vocal hook line is very catchy. And the best is that the lyrics are just a bit mysterious and interesting. I'm also partial to "The Heart is Long." This is one of several songs that Auerbach uses to examine the ups and downs of relationships. Along with "Lucky Stars" and "The Circle," it creates images of relationships that are easy to relate to. Production-wise this is a well done album with a crew of Nashville and L.A. session players who add some nice color to the sound. If you are a roots rock fan this is well worth checking out.

“GREAT WRITING... STRONG LYRICS. MUSICALLY VERY TIGHT. UNIQUE VOCAL STYLE.”
Reviewer: Jay Sterin, President Media Maven, Inc.

With everything coming out sounding alike it is great to hear something like this. The CD means a lot to him and you can feel it coming through. Great writing...lyrics are really strong. Musically very tight and professional. Unique vocal style.

“YOU NEVER KNOW WHERE YOU WILL BE IN THE NEXT MOMENT. TO ME, THAT ALWAYS FEELS GREAT.”
Reviewer: Rick Haas, Aces and Eights

Jonathan Auerbach has the prized ability to combine sincere feelings with genuine wit... Swirling emotions set loose in his inaugural release LAUNCH... You never know where you will be in the next moment. To me, that always feels great.

THE FRESHEST MARRIAGE OF MUSIC AND LYRICS THAT I'VE HEARD IN MANY YEARS!
Joseph Rosendo - Producer/publisher, Travelscope Radio & Publication

Mr. Auerbach offers the freshest marriage of music and lyrics that I've heard in many years. As with one of my favorite tracks, “Distant Drumming,” the music lures, but he captures heart and mind with his lyrics -- deliciously surprising at times and always crafted to complement the mood he creates with his melodies. In an era of repetitive, thoughtless ramblings, his words tell a story and (dare I mention it) offer up something of value to ponder and relish.

PERFECT BLEND OF WORDS AND MUSIC -- OUTSTANDING SONGWRITING
John Rhonert, producer, Village Producers -- LA

Mix great musical compositions topped with great powerful lyrics, and you have the music of Jonathan Auerbach on his debut CD, LAUNCH. My personal favorite track, Distant Drumming, is a perfect blend of words and music --outstanding songwriting.
