Since arriving on the LA scene, Just Off Turner has evolved into a band that is repeatedly turning heads and consistently winning over new fans. With passionate lyrics, contagious melodies and a timeless sound, JOT is a band with universal appeal. Stellar songwriting and inspiring musicianship have led audiences to draw comparisons to artists such as Jeff Buckley, Coldplay, and John Mayer.
After moving the group from Arkansas, founding members Bryan Mounce (lead vocals and guitar) and Eric Gustafson (drums & vocals) teamed up with Phil Metzler (keyboards & vocals) and Stephen Andrews (bass & vocals) to create their own exciting brand of soulful rock ‘n’ roll.
Grammy winner, John Mayer, personally endorsed the boys in his April 28, 2007 MySpace blog and wrote a glowing review of their song "How Much It Hurts" - Which he added to his own, personal MySpace music player.
Since then, JOT has lent their music to MTV, E!, Oxygen and ABC television shows, toured US cities and colleges and have headlined shows at The House Of Blues, The Viper Room and festivals in California. Their awareness abroad continues to grow with a remarkable following in Brazil, Italy and the UK.
2009 sees the band releasing their new album, Words On Waves; which finds the band stretching their musical chops while staying true to the pop sensibilities that they’ve become known for. A return to USC Upstate in Spartanburg, SC in April will kick off a satellite tour to promote the new CD – Followed by select US dates, a tour of Switzerland and Europe in the autumn of 2009.
