Steven J. Rogers, known as Jyrice (pronounced /dʒaɪˈriːs/, jy-ree-c), is an American singer, songwriter, record producer and actor.

Biography

On November 22, 1985, in Jacksonville, FL, the youngest child of Terry and Michelle Rogers, musical prodigy, Steven J. Rogers known mononymously as Jyrice was born. Soon after his birth he found himself to be a victim of parental separation which later was followed by divorce. To cope with the separation he found comfort in drawing, listening to music, and singing. While in elementary school Steven’s class was chosen to sing on the radio, and from hearing him hum every tune he knew during his lessons his teacher asked him to lead the song. During his earlier childhood years Steven and his four older brothers were forced to sing in the church choir. At the age of 10 years old he found himself singing lead and traveling around Jacksonville, FL. from church to church, gospel anniversaries, and gospel explosion events. From that age he began to turn his life and other situations into songs. By the time he reached high school he had gained respect and love for music and the industry through singing and reading many texts. In year 2001, Steven began to think of a way to help himself and other artist/music lovers alike to be heard. After doing research he built a website called Upcoming Stars. During his junior year in his business class he decided to build his own business empire. He wanted to have a company that would allow him do what he loved, helping others and be around music. That day he came up with a name for his future label BlueRecords. Soon after settling in his mind that music was the career for him, he soon joined Jean Ribault Senor High School Singing Trojans, the school’s gospel chorus under the direction of the talented Dr. E. White to help sharpen his skills. The Singing Trojans traveled singing and performing all around Jacksonville, FL and at several out of town venues such as churches, The World of Nations event, Jacksonville International Airport, Bethune-Cookman College with the concert chorale and much more. Singing in the chorus taught Steven to be patient, to be motivated at all times, and the skills to deliver a great performance leading or even singing back up. April 9, 2007 he made one of his many dreams reality by incorporating his company’s name. (CC BY-SA 4.0)
