"Seasons of Change"February 5, 2013
We just returned from an amazing time of ministry in Virginia where God’s Spirit poured out like a flood! One of these particular events had over thirty young men and woman coming forward for prayer, weeping before the Lord and repenting from sin. There were open confessions, on the spot phone calls breaking off sinful relationships, and understanding what it means to “count the cost” when following Christ. Only Jesus is Lord! We returned home this past week and learned that one of the new girls from our fellowship just found out there was cancer throughout her body. Though only a few months in Christ, the Lord used her life powerfully to witness to her family and all those around her in the precious time she was given. She had no idea that in a little over a week she would see him face to face. We all praised God together in her room as she left to be with Jesus on Thursday evening. So far this New Year has brought life, death, joy, challenges, victories, etc. to each one of us and there will always be more to follow. When in Virginia, Cheth experienced his first snow and loved watching it fall from the sky. It made me think of the seasons of change that we must go through and how God controls them all. It brought me to Ecclesiastes 3: 1-8.
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted; A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”
As we go through the seasons that life brings, may we be mindful and aware of what time God has us in now. What he is showing us? How is he teaching us? May we learn from his word, wisdom, correction and guidance, that we may prosper in times to come. God is so gracious and merciful, that he says in his word, “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. “ (Proverbs 28:13) Thank you Lord for every season that you take us through. May we treasure every second that we have, knowing that this too shall pass away. Through it all, one thing stands for sure. When we confess and yield ourselves to Christ, through each circumstance God continues to mold us and shape us into the image of his son, Jesus. This is the hope that we all have who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.
I am so excited for this coming Saturday evening! I’ll be ministering in concert at the CROSS Florida Conference in Miami, FL at 8:30pm. Hope to see you there. : ) For more information you can see the website: http://www.crossflorida.org
May God be with you and grant you strength and mercy through this season of life. Never put off for tomorrow what can be done today, and always remember 1 Timothy 6:6, that “godliness with contentment is great gain.”
All love in Christ Jesus our Lord,
