"Hidden Beats - Meghan Patrick Tour Review"

Without missing a beat, Kelsi Mayne (RN, actor, and now established country singer/ songwriter) quickly riled up the audience with an opening Little Big Town cover ‘Girl Crush’, alluding to her own girl crush on upcoming main act Meghan Patrick. The audience went wild, cheering and whooping throughout the song, then fell into a hushed fascination with supporting guitarist Dexter Frank’s flawless plucking during the following cover of Blackstreet’s ‘No Diggity’. After playing an unnamed and yet-to-be-released song, Mayne soloed on her harmonica, encouraging audience members to hold up “any finger” for her song ‘Still not over you,’ joking that “this was an all-ages show”. Applause exploded as the opening act was beautifully wrapped up with ‘As I Go’, an original. Mayne’s jovial demeanor and raw talent both captivated the audience for her own set and gracefully facilitated an ever-growing anticipation for Meghan Patrick’s arrival.

These two strong female leads (Kelsi and Meghan) blew the audience away with their combined courage, sensitivity, humor, and talent. Mayne introduced a level of unmitigated joy and passion for her craft that was completely contagious... - N/A

"Soundcheck Entertainment - Meghan Patrick Tour Review"

The first priority of an opening act is to hype up the crowd, and Kelsi Mayne used every trick in the book — sing-alongs, name checking local favourites, familiar covers and glowing references to the headliner — to meet that goal. Along the way, she showed off enough powerhouse vocals to also succeed at the second priority of an opening act — to win some new fans for themselves... -

Windsor country singer balances microphone and scrubs after return to nursing amid pandemic...

'Whoever can help, should help,' says Kelsi Mayne.

Within months of releasing her debut country album and days after a performance showcasing her talent, Windsor's Kelsi Mayne got out her scrubs and a face shield and returned to nursing.

Last year, Mayne's very first album launched around the same time COVID-19 hit Canada, derailing many of her music plans. She told CBC News that she still had some musical obligations to fulfil as she was being funded through FACTOR Canada — a music grant offered through the federal government.

"I felt like I had this [nursing] degree and if I wasn't using it then what good was I doing?" she said.

"I promised myself as soon as my obligations allowed I would help if it lasted long enough, and it did unfortunately, but now I'm happy to be actually able to help out." -

‘I just knew I wanted to help’: How country star Kelsi Mayne dusted off her nursing degree and joined the front line.

Kelsi Mayne poured her life savings into her debut album. Then the pandemic hit. She answered the call to help on the front line. “Helping in some small way to make someone’s experience a little more pleasant — that’s why I went into nursing in the first place,” says Mayne. - Kristen Vinakmens

KELSI MAYNE: CHILDHOOD SINGER, LATE-BLOOMING SONGWRITER

Kelsi Mayne’s debut album, As I Go, opens with the sound of a needle dropping on a scratchy record and a Gospel intro before the first song, “Woman Waiting.” It’s a nod to the emerging country star’s upbringing in Windsor, Ont., across the bridge from the epicentre of old-school R&B and soul in Detroit – and those soulful roots spread throughout her songs, subtly revealing her love for Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, and Destiny’s Child.

As I Go‘s release date was March 27, in the midst of the COVID-19 maelstrom, but while she’ll have to postpone the launch party, Mayne – an independent artist who’s her own manager, label, and booking agent – is way ahead of the game. She’s been dropping kickass singles over the past year and watching them soar, with Spotify streams in the six figures and 1.5 million views on TikTok in 24 hours. She was a finalist in SiriusXM’s “Top of the Country” contest and a hit with her single “Takin’ U Home” on the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour. And she sees a silver lining in the album’s timing. “We’ll get twice the publicity, ‘cause we have to announce the cancelling and then announce the new dates,” she says. ‘It’s not the worst thing. I have a nursing background, and I’m just happy everyone’s taking precautions.” - Mary Dickie

"CMAO Artist of the Month (Dec 2017)"

Windsor, Ontario native Kelsi Mayne has been honing her musical craft for years, and in 2017, country music fans finally got an official taste of what she has to share with the world.

Mayne’s debut single and video were released in October, and have caught the eyes and ears of fans with nearly 30,000 spins on YouTube and Spotify in its first two months. And while 'Still Not Over You' may be her first original single, country fans may be familiar with Kelsi’s voice already from her covers of Sam Hunt’s Body Like A Back Road and Cam’s Burning House. All three songs showcase the talent that Kelsi possesses, and offer a glimpse at what we hope she has to share in the near future.

The red-headed spitfire (Windsor hockey fans, we got you) also brings a ton of personality to her music, showcasing her irreverent and self-deprecating sense of humour in the 'Still Not Over You' video; and, when we chatted with her before the 2016 Boots & Hearts Emerging Artists Showcase, where she was a finalist. In that Q&A, we asked her to tell us what to expect from her set and she told us, “Fire. Drop mic here”. We loved it.

That stage show at Boots & Hearts isn’t the only time Kelsi’s played a big stage setting. In her young career, she’s already shared stages with the likes of Florida Georgia Line, Tim McGraw, Blake Shelton, Dean Brody, Aaron Pritchett, Cam, and more. And before that, like many hard working country artists, it all started in her hometown, as she played regularly at Bull n’ Barrel.

With the release of her single, Kelsi Mayne has started to reach a wider audience of country music fans in Ontario and across Canada. And as she continues to work on new music and a new video shoot this month in Windsor, we are looking forward to 2018 and what’s in store from this rising star. - Country Music Association of Ontario

"Canadian Beats"

Canadian artist, Kelsi Mayne has released her debut single, “Still Not Over You” which she wrote with two-time Juno-winning producer, Ryan Stewart. When we asked Kelsi about the single, she commented,

“The song was inspired by a friend devastated over a breakup after only dating a few short months. I wanted the music video to make light of these these mixed feelings and emotions and show my sense of humour.”

We also asked Kelsi about the idea behind the music video, in which she states,

“I play this character that’s basically desperate to reinvent herself, taking on personas like Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, and Britney Spears, which was SO much fun to do!”

Keep an eye out for Kelsi’s next single early next year, and if this single is any indication of what to expect, you won’t want to miss it! - Jenna Melanson

"Fiery redhead Kelsi Mayne is taking the Canadian Country music world by storm..."

Fiery redhead Kelsi Mayne is taking the Canadian Country music world by storm with performances on Rogers Hometown Hockey and more. Her latest single “Takin’ U Home” has drawn comparisons to Shania Twain and with lyrics like “if you get too close, I’m takin’ you home” – it’s easy to get hooked on the songs romantic nature. But the music video for the song, filmed at the Toronto Humane Society, takes the songs lyrics to a whole different level. - Country 93.3

Bio

"She is a sensation!" — Ron MacLean, Hockey Night in Canada

"Kelsi Mayne is a dynamic artist with an exceptional voice capable of delivering an impactful performance on any size stage." — Chris Melnychuck, SILVERPLOW

“Kelsi had people engaged from the first verse. Her incredible vocal abilities and infectious personality was truly entertaining" — Pat McGannon, PM GIGS

After patrons at a local country bar told her she needed to "go to the big city", singer-songwriter Kelsi Mayne moved from her hometown of Windsor, ON to Toronto to see if she could "make it." With frequented trips to Nashville in between, the once nationally ranked sprint hurdler is now one of the fastest rising independent artists in Canada— performing main stages across Canada such as Boots and Hearts, Calgary Stampede and Big Valley Jamboree, Rogers Hometown Hockey on live national television, and anthems for the Blue Jays. Between managing the band, writing the music, costume designing, applying for grants, and producing & editing her own music videos, Kelsi is the ultimate “DIY-er”.

In recent years, the 3x CMAOntario nominee, FACTOR Canada recipient, and SiriusXM "Top of the Country" finalist, found herself trading her boots for scrubs— putting her nursing degree back to work, heading company Pulsar UV Inc. as Chief Medical Director, and led multi-million dollar productions for Apple TV and CBS through the pandemic without a single shut down. Now with new music, videos, and collaborations on the horizon, the #MayneTrain is back on track and moving full steam ahead as Soundcheck Entertainment’s Hendrik Pape predicted: “It won’t be long until Kelsi Mayne becomes a household name across Canada.”
