Well, it's the middle of December now, and I've been running a little experiment in selling my music at a discount, and donating half the proceeds to United Way Toronto. You can read about it
here. I started mentioning it on December 1st, at my open mic night at Slack's, and at five other shows so far. The online part only began last week. Most of the people who come to shows, and/or follow me online are from Toronto, and most of them already own a copy, or multiple copies, of one or both of my cds so let's just say I wasn't expecting miracles.
I'm a little surprised by the results so far. Especially the amount of support that I've received from outside of Toronto. 44% of it! With Germany and the U.S accounting for 18% of that. So Toronto support is just over half, with 56% of the money raised so far. I'm pretty happy with that, but just because you may already own my music, doesn't mean you can't pick up more copies for your friends, clients, mothers-in-law, or someone else as a holiday gift! Or just keep a few on hand as thank-you, or dinner party gifts over the year.
Have someone you know check out my music at
cdbaby.com. While they're there, they can grab a free song download - "Everybody Pays" - and purchase a full cd download for just $5. Or, a single song for just $0.99. Every gift matters and every dollar counts.
The sale price of $5 ends December 31st, 2009 but there's still 15 days and 2 more Toronto shows. Thanks for your help!
Thanks again for your continued support,
Kim
