Bio

Kolawole “Tokeaux” Anderson, founder of Freesho firm discovered a significant interest in music early in life. Raised in Long Beach, CA, and being of Nigerian ancestry, this "West Coast, West African" has a distinctive story of personal & spiritual perseverance to tell in his music. Tokeaux states “I have been commissioned to be a maven in this world. My name means, “To bring wealth & blessings into people’s homes”. Through my music I bring wealth of knowledge, self-reflection, and charisma. I want to be the voice of reason that humanizes the struggle of individuals of all walks of life." He infuses a West Coast-like flow with West African style parables, which makes for a smooth, lyrical, yet in-depth sound that captivates listeners leaving the not just entertained, but inspired. Tokeaux believes his position, as an emcee is to address thought-provoking subjects in a creatively constructive way.

In August 2011, Tokeaux attended a concert hosted by Dream Urban supporting two artists of Top Dawg Entertainments (TDE) headlining Kendrick Lamar featuring Schoolboy Q. Ab-Soul, another member of TDE, described Kolawole as being a dope lyricist after this show backstage. Kolawole paid his respects and graciously thanked both Ab-Soul and Kendrick Lamar for opening up doors for artists such as himself. They replied, No problem, keep grindin. This wasnt at all the last time TDE and Kolawole would collaborate. June 2012, Tokeaux touched the stage in Los Angeles, opening a set headlined by Ab-Soul along with respected local contemporaries Terrace Martin and IllCamille. Five months later, Tokeaux found himself working with TDE producer Taebeast on his latest album; MAN: The Birth of Freesho released in November 2012. The following February of 2013, he touched the stage yet again and opened a set headlining Schoolboy Q in Sacramento. Since then, he has performed at live local festivals and benefit concerts. A notable concert Tokeaux performed at involved a cause in raising awareness in Domestic Violence & Abuse in April 2013.
