"Lakoda - "Words Unspoken" Video Premier"

Apart from promoting DIY bands and working for a fat corporation, the space is one of my areas of quite a huge interest, so it’s always great news when you discover that artists you work with are also into big retro space helmets and plastic clothes that make them look sexy. With “Words Unspoken”, the newest music video from Boise, ID based indie rock band LAKODA can intimidate any aliens or sasquatches they might encounter. Watch below and have fun. - Karol Kaminski, Idioteq

"Danny Blaqk & The Galaxy: Live at Neurolux - Boise"

"...Those sitting came to their feet as another Boise band, quickly making a name for themselves in their own right, took center stage. Lakoda’s mix of Cage The Elephant-meets-early-Red Hot Chili Peppers-meets-unadulterated rock was an instant attention grab..." - Nanobot Rock Reviews

"100 Bands in 100 Days Presented by Verity Credit Union — Day 82: Lakoda"

"One of the cool things about doing this feature for us is the music discovery aspect, even for us. We pride ourselves on listening to tons and tons of new music coming out of the northwest and we like to think we are pretty up to speed with what is going on but we’ll be the first to admit that some killer bands fall through the cracks. When we first heard, or watched rather, Lakoda’s video for “Words Unspoken” we were hooked instantly. There’s little doubt that if band stays on this path they are destined for much bigger things. . . Lakoda is another band we’ll be watching closely to see what they have up their sleeves next." - NorthWest Music Scene

Bio

Lakoda is an alternative rock band from the Pacific Northwest. The five-piece act draws inspiration from both modern and timeless predecessors such as Glass Animals, Portugal. The Man, Arctic Monkeys, and more. Nanobotrock.com described the sound of their live show as a “mix of Cage The Elephant-meets-early-Red Hot Chili Peppers-meets unadulterated rock,” and “an instant attention grab.”

Having just completed an extensive song-writing stint, the band released “Plain James,” the first single and music video from their upcoming EP, “Strange Neighbors,” on June 7, 2018. The full project is set for release in 2018. The band is currently on tour in support of the single.

Lakoda is the product of a thriving scene for independent and alternative music in their hometown of Boise, Idaho. Paul Castronova (lead vocals, keys), Rafael Nava (guitar, vocals, keys), Alex Ridgeway (drums), Chris Szlanic (guitar, keys), and Joe Szlanic (bass guitar, vocals) have been perennial players on the local live music circuit for years.

Despite their up-start, D.I.Y. mentality, the band has already achieved encouraging success regionally. Multiple tours have been self-funded and independently promoted, allowing the band to have played in dozens of major cities throughout the American west. “Words Unspoken,” the single from their early EP, “No Longer  A Fan.,” received radio airplay in Southern Idaho and online worldwide, with its accompanying video receiving critical acclaim.

Those familiar with the band often observe that their relentless work ethic gives them lofty expectations. Northwestmusicscene.net described their potential while reviewing their video for “Words Unspoken,” stating,

We pride ourselves on listening to tons and tons of new music coming out of the Northwest and we like to think we are pretty up to speed with what is going on, but we’ll be the first to admit that some killer bands fall through the cracks.
