M. Crane's Sweethearts EP features seven tracks from the relatively new group. With a moody, broody ambience decorated with cold and faraway feeling textures only to shift into moments that change pace with loud and distorted guitars, the alt-indie act expresses a sort of early-to-mid 2000s nostalgia that feels, at times, a little like Jets to Brazil or The Promise Ring and others sort of like The Mars Volta when intensity builds. - Heather Hoch
When push comes to show, the Tucson band has a little something for many different kinds of rock fans. The emotive vocals push in the direction of Matt Bellamy at times, and dreamy soundscapes meet loud rock and an overarching air of poignancy all throughout. M. Crane is worth a listen in this project, the Sweethearts EP. - Ryan Getz
