Martha's Trouble

This is our only day off this tour and we spent it at Lake Michigan. We went to Grand Haven for the day after playing a house concert there last night. We are staying in Grand Rapids which is about 40 min east of Grand Haven. The house concert last night was so amazing. It was a great group of people we got to play for. The host had seen us play about 6 years ago at a bookstore in Grand Rapids, and since we don’t get up this way much…or haven’t much I’m the last few years…she decided she would open her home up, invite her friends & neighbors & have us come play. It was so much fun! We even picked up another house show at her friends house this Thursday. I guess that’s tomorrow! Being out on the road, you seem to forget what day it is. It’s strange, but at home I always know what day it is and what’s on TV…etc, but out here you don’t even care. I love that. We’ve been watching Wimbledon in the mornings, but that’s about it.

So, the lake today was beautiful!! The weather was perfect!! Fresh air, not too hot, not too cold…so nice. We walked along the boardwalk to the pier and then to the beach. The kids decided to go in the water with their clothes on. Yes, we were those people. We didn’t bring their bathing suits to the lake. ??? I guess we didn’t think that through. Haha. The kids had fun. I felt like I fit in a little better at this northern beach. There’s a lot more pale people like myself!!

We are headed back to the hotel around the Grand Rapids area. We will be based out of here another few days. Gonna go get on the treadmill when we get settled in and have a relaxing night tonight.
