There are times you live for as a songwriterPosted By from July 8, 2009Ill always remember a full-time songwriter catching me as I walked off stage at a songwriter showcase, pointing his finger in my chest, and saying, "You could make a living with songs like that!!" Or the time at the gym in Anthem last year when a guy walked up and said, "Are you Matt Moran, the songwriter? My wife and I have seen you up in Cave Creek. We love that Mexico song. Its my wifes favorite!" Listen to South to Mexico here Today I was honored with this email.
============================= He then listed the song or lyrics from it. It is my song, Everything I Thought Id Never Wanted& My song as a gift for a 1st anniversary!!! Thank you.. thank you' and again, thank you!!! There is, as with all songs, a bit of a story behind it. After our home was destroyed in a a freak monsoon created flood in 2007, Doug Brunkhe, a marketing professional in Phoenix who after seeing me interviewed post flood all day the next day and had seen me make the newspaper and TV before said, "All the press you ever wanted!" I replied, "All the press I never wanted!" A week or so later, running some errands and equipped with my digital recorder, I rolled the phrase and idea over in my mind. Rather than a press I never wanted, what about love I never wanted.. The lyrics: Everything I Thought Id Never Wanted CHORUS VERSE That when it gets hold of you Baby thats what happened when I saw you VERSE And it takes me back to when Weve put some years behind us girl but I still see ================== I like the song too ' simple, yet emotionally pure. Ive done a basic acoustic recording of it but not for release. However, here is a video recorded earlier this year at Next Coffee Company in Phoenix (Glendale, AZ really). FYI: Ill be there on July 24th, 2009 ' 8-10pm. |
