"LISTEN: MEGHAN VK DEBUTS WITH SCORCHING COUNTRY ROCK SINGLE, ‘LET IT BURN’"

Who needs the world outside when you’ve got your baby?

That’s the overall message behind “Let It Burn,” the debut single from Long Island native, Meghan VK (short for VanKurin). The country rock offering brings the heat with blistering hot guitar work, and VanKurin’s strong country alto adds another memorable voice to New York’s surging urban country movement.

Also, considering our current circumstances (i.e.; world going to hell), the subject matter of “Let It Burn” is totally on-point. That’s all the more reason to check this one out below! - Gerard Longo, Underground Music Collective

"Meghan VK Brings Rockcentric Country to New York City"

It's not very often we find modern country music that inspires us enough to write about, so we had to share this new gem Meghan VK. New York City's very own country singer has already opened up for megastars Little Big Town, Dierks Bentley, and Sam Hunt at Pennysaver Amphitheater.

On April 24th Meghan recently dropped her first-ever single on Spotify titled Let It Burn (Video Above). The song is a classic country love anthem that'll get your cowboy boots stompin'. Meghan's vocals and twangy guitar riffs make the song though. Vocally, she has a natural vibrato and tastefully adds the perfect amount of grit to the notes. This is one of those barroom anthems that have Nashville's Broadway busting at the seams.

A proud member of NSAI and ASCAP, Meghan is constantly writing and working on developing new songs. She is currently working on a weekly video series, titled #MeghanMusicMonday on Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube, where she shares her cover of songs that mean something to her personally and explains why they resonate with her as a songwriter as well. - Brendan Hayes, Nuance Magazine

"NY-Based Indie Country Artist Meghan VK Releases New Single “The Hearse”"

The latest single from NY-based indie country artist Meghan VK, “The Hearse” is now available.

Already picking up speed ahead of its release, “The Hearse” was selected at a pitch by an A&R rep from Universal Music Publishing Group, pitched to major label artists via the team at NSAI (Nashville Songwriters Association International), and earned Meghan VK a seat in ASCAP’s country songwriters workshop class of 2020.

“The Hearse” stands out from the pack for not only it’s topic but the lyrical conversation around it.

“The idea for this song came about in 2019; I was driving home and saw a hearse driving to a burial with no one following it. Seeing this really made an impact, the moment was so sad and lonely. It made me wonder what this person’s story was. That moment followed me into a cowrite in early 2020, and after 5 writes together we had fully fleshed out ‘The Hearse’.”

The accompanying music video was released the same day the song hit all streaming and download services. Mixed with shots of Meghan in sprawling fields, a small old church, and beautiful scenery, are clips telling the story of a lonely soul as well. A true indie artist, the music video was filmed by Meghan with the help of her husband Scott and edited by Meghan herself. Meghan VK is more often outside the box than in it, as is her music.

The Hearse really hits home with listeners as well, often stopping them in their tracks and bringing them to tears.

"THE QUINN’S DAILY SPINN: FRIDAY, SEPT. 4 (one of those nights review)"

We have something for your Friday that is sure to make you long for responsibly-celebrated neon nights in Nashville.

Meghan VK is back with her second single, “One of Those Nights,” a working person’s anthem about letting loose after a long day and week on the job. While country at its core, there’s a certain hard rock sensibility about the tune that is impossible to ignore. We think it might have something to do with the scorching, slightly-crunchy guitar riffs that give the tune a little extra edge. But, that might just be a hunch.

Hopefully, we’ll all be able to have “One of Those Nights,” sooner rather than later. Until then, get your weekend started with today’s Daily Spinn! - Gerard Longo, Underground Music Collective

Bio

With a sound that’s both familiar and fresh, offering soul woven with nostalgic callbacks to Reba and Dolly, New York based Meghan VK brings a powerful and natural vibrato to each and every song.

Named by NSAI as “One To Watch” as well as “recommended for publisher consideration”, Meghan’s proudest accomplishment goes much deeper, and touches on her time playing the Angela’s House Benefit for medically fragile children alongside Lindsay Ell.

Meghan was a member of ASCAP's country writers' workshop (class of 2020), and from there earned a cowrite with Bonnie Baker (Hunter Hayes, Reba McIntyre, Rascal Flatts).

Endorsed by local radio station My Country 96.1 FM, with a committed place in their national artist summer shows at BHMHC Ampitheater, Meghan has opened for acts such as Chris Stapleton, Brothers Osborne, Dierks Bentley, Little Big Town, Old Dominion, Brett Eldredge, Jake Owen, Billy Currington, Toby Keith, Chris Janson, and Sam Hunt, and many others.

Meghan VK is currently working toward her first EP,  with her single "The Hearse" as the first song from that collection.  "The Hearse" was selected by UMPG A&R reps at a pitch to publisher event hosted by NSAI.  It was also added to Ty Bentli's apple music playlist, with Ty saying "The Hearse had me leaning in to every word - The music played out like a movie scene - well crafted, interesting, introspective and empathetic - Beautifully written".

She hopes to connect with her audience through the mediums she’s most passionate about—song, story, and strength. Music has always been cathartic for her, and she's eager to share that catharsis with anyone who may need it through her songs.
