Merry Agape

Meet New York born and raised singer & songwriter, Merry Agape. Having shared the stage with Pat Benatar, Duke Ellington, Maxine Brown, Emmylou Harris, Betty LaVette and other greats; having toured the U.S. and Europe with R&B legend, Ms. Maxine Brown; and having toured the American West with cowboy performer, Joe Green, Merry is now based in Houston, Texas where she recently played the esteemed Anderson Fair and JP Hops House.

Ms. Maxine Brown said, “Merry is the best background singer, black or white, I have ever worked with! I really miss her, but I’m happy and proud that she’s doing her own thing.”

Merry just got back from Germany, where she sang, once again, with Ms. Maxine Brown. On her way home to Houston, Merry stopped over in New York City to perform a solo show and audition for her upcoming North East Tour.

Merry’s refreshingly original music demonstrates her versatility as a performer and songwriter. Every song is lyrically refreshing and musically unique.

Merry can deliver standards as well as originals with an exceptional voice accompanying herself on guitar, keyboard and tenor guitar or performing with a group.

Her set lists, including standards from the 20’s forward and her own material plus her collaborations with husband, Joe Green, reveal the diverse influences of pop, jazz, rhythm and blues, classical, western and folk. The moods and themes of her lyrics are as varied and intriguing as the tempo and musical style of her melodies.
