2. TiernanTunes TaskForce and Street Team - Join and help in lil' tasks from time to time...
OK - sometimes I need a little help here and there with goofy little voting things online,  or posters and fliers handed out to friends, etc, but I have a hard time buggin my whole list about it!  So please, if you'd like to lend a hand from time to time, please make sure you're signed up via my ReverbNation site (which is where this email is coming from!) to be part of my Street Team - click the update your information link on the bottom of this email to sign up!   There's some fun stuff coming through the pipeline and you'll discover some great new sites and people.

Here's a little taste of what I'd ask you to do, and anybody can do this:
***Go to www.webceleb.com and sign up (it's a great new, cutting edge social networking tool to discover music, art, and writing, started by people here in SD).  Find my music by going to http://www.webceleb.com/#/profile/4251/ and vote me up - click the "up" tabs by my songs when  you play them.  There's a contest for the next couple weeks for the most voted upon artists to perform at San Diego State University for a big show.   Silly, yes! But also fun, if you like surfing the net and discovering new stuff!  Thanks!

Or, create your own TaskForce Tasks!
Self-inspired Task Force example: Some people ask me what they can do to help the music spread, and I'll let you know via the Task Force when specific things come up.  Others take matters into their own hands.  Like my friend Laura Lee (www.somaticexperience.com ) - she liked the song "L.A. Can Wait" so much, that she sent a letter to the Ellen show requesting that I get on there.  Who knows if it'll work, but that's pretty rad!!!  Thanks Laura Lee!  Anyone else who wants to write to the Ellen Show, be my guest!!  My friend Kathy, in Denver, took it upon herself to call the Craig Furgusen show to try to get me on there! Sweeeet!

3. "Better Life" wins Honor Award at the Great American Song Contest!
I guess its sort of like being proud of your children once they make the Honor Roll, get into a great college, or do something really praiseworthy.  I wrote this song a few years back now.  Just writing it was thrill enough for me - it was one of those that took me by surprise and took me on a journey.  I recorded it w/ Sven, Barbara Nesbitt added some seriously killer vocals, Alex DePue nailed some insane violin parts, and away it went - on the CD, played during live shows, etc.  Its fantastic when a song takes on its own life - you get it out there and let it do its own work!  So far, this song has been featured TWICE on MTV's Real World, and just recently was a finalist in the Great American Song Contest in the Contemporary Acoustic / Folk Category.  Sweet!
Now I just need a bumper sticker.

4. Twitter / Facebook musings: Just a waste of time? Or Universal Mind?
I often hear people, young and old, complain - "What's with all this social networking mumbo-jumbo? Why waste your time?"  And true, to get caught up in spending too much time reading up on people's Twitters and updates that read something like, "Sam Johnson is eating a scrumptious Peanut Butter sandwich" seems quite ridiculous.  And I used to agree.  In fact, some time ago, I held out on getting a cell phone for months and months b/c I didn't want the intrusion of my own space.  I've always been an advocate for creating space in our lives.

But is there really something to this whole Facebook and Twitter phenomenon?  Isn't it amazing that at a glance we can know what's going on in the lives of others, especially those we care about?  Yes, a healthy dose of self-control is needed not to waste hours living vicariously through the lives of others. But even if we don't care what Sam is eating for lunch, isn't it cool that Sam came across our awareness today - that we thought of him, wished him well, cracked a smile at his good fortune that he is so ecstatic about a simple meal?  Isn't that better than not thinking of him at all?

I think its absolutely cool and amazing that we can share our up-to-the-second thoughts, whereabouts, emotional states, pleas for prayers, or thoughts of gratitude, instantly with those we're connected to.  Of course it doesn't substitute for real human contact, but it puts us in a realm of togetherness that can help us get through our days that we usually spend alone at work - we sympathize, criticize, rejoice, chat, send good thoughts out to others instantly.  We can communicate so incredibly fast on in depth thoughts and issues.   I guess the collective subconscious of humanity was feeling the alienation that technology seemed to impose and responded with a way to inject some humanity into the hours we're glued to the screen.  This modern world sometimes seeks to destroy community by putting up ideological walls and prejudices - but this social networking thing, done right, is great therapy.

Through Facebook, whole parts of my history that I've turned off unintentionally have come rushing back into my life - and instead of being an intrusion, it helps connect the dots of where I came from, and who I am now.  Re-connecting with everyone from pre-school friends to post-college workmates has brought a delightful richness to my life.  Its so great to share where I am now with them and see what they have made of themselves as well.  It gives me a sense that we really are being taken care of - that things DO work out, that people realize their dreams, and that the world is a good place.

O, and I am very happy about Sam's PB&J.

With that in mind, if you haven't yet, connect with me and each other around the music at places like:
