Nao.K

Naomi Krizner, known as Nao.K, has been playing music for more than half of her life, starting with guitar lessons at the age of seven. With her guitar lessons came opportunities to perform in recitals, ensembles, and rock bands. Naomi took advantage of every possibility to perform, and began playing in other bands and music groups on the side, playing at coffeehouses, weddings, zoos, music stores, and restaurants. She experimented with more aspects of music, taking vocal, piano, and drum lessons, as well as Garageband and music theory classes.

Naomi discovered her passion for rap when she was a sophomore in high school. It was a year when she was somewhat stuck; she knew she wanted music to be her life, but she wasn’t sure about the direction she would go in. One afternoon, she was rapping along to a song playing on the radio, and she suddenly hit her knees as she realized that was what she wanted to do. Immediately her songwriting focus switched from a singer-songwriter feel to rap lyrics and the creation of beats. She began performing original songs and verses during church services, band gigs, and even at a competition, where she qualified to perform in Boston.

Recently, Naomi the rapper became Nao.K, as she wrote, produced, and released her first single, Hold Back, as a lead up to her debut EP, Exposition. Her focus as an artist is to be real, presenting life as what it is. She hopes to bring a positive and relatable message to the table, so that it can be used as hope and inspiration not only to push through life’s fields of cactuses, but also to learn that besides all the thorns and spines, Cacti can actually give pretty good hugs.

Nao.K’s music has yet to be clearly described in a manner that makes sense. Her sound encompasses many sounds simultaneously. Some tracks remind listeners of NF, others are similar to Lecrae, and different songs sound like Eminem and Twenty One Pilots met for a cup of coffee. This is the goal of Exposition, Nao.K is exploring different styles and finding what her personal sound is. This journey will be directed into a five song EP, serving as both an introduction of Nao.K to the world, and an invitation for listeners to walk next her, learning and discovering things about themselves and their lives at the same time she is.
