Bio

“Inspiration isn’t something that you wait for or need,” says songwriter Nettie Rose, “its life.”

Nettie is the granddaughter of Alan Freed — the legendary DJ who coined the phrase “rock and roll.” With a music publisher father and a rock archivist mother, she grew up around the music business, intrigued by songwriters and artists.

She began creating her own destiny at age eight when she recorded her first original studio composition. By age nine, she had met multi-instrumentalist and teacher Fred Sokolow who taught her flatpicking and strumming. With his mentorship, she was indelibly linked with the musical legacy of country troubadours like Hank Williams and Ernest Tubb.

Nettie wrote her own poetry and lyrics which soon evolved into a vast catalog of songs. She began co-writing with Sokolow, crafting narrative music with a unique, vintage style.

Nettie Rose wrote her second album, and traveled back to Nashville create her well-anticipated sophomore effort, LIBERTAS with producer Sal Oliveri (Carrie Underwood). Oliveri, who is a highly respected Nashville producer, engineer, and songwriter (Lady Antebellum, Mylon LeFever) has received Grammy Nominations and credits, in writing and production for “Best Pop Gospel Album.”

LIBERTAS was tracked at The Brown Owl Studio in Berry Hill, Nashville, and at Oliveri’s home studio in Franklin, Tennessee. Back in Hollywood, the new collection of songs were once again mixed by master Niko Bolas (Neil Young, LeAnn Rimes) at his “Surf Shack” room in the Capitol Records Tower.

“For LIBERTAS, I generally stuck with the same team that accompanied my first indie release,” explains Nettie. “PEOPLE I KNOW was mostly a collection of personal demos, and I was much younger and experimenting with my sound. This time I wanted to create a more smooth, atmospherically romantic, and memorable narrative.”

Nettie Rose continues to surround herself with an established arsenal of producers, songwriters, musicians, and industry professionals, helping Nettie develop her unforgettable style towards a coherent and highly marketable brand.

When asked for the release date for LIBERTAS, Nettie smiles. “We’ve been getting messages from fans asking about the release date. When I was playing empty Silverlake bars at age16, I never figured it would be like this. Even this early on, it’s more than I can ask for. I promise LIBERTAS will be worth the wait.”
