(happy is) the man who

Posted By Dim from August 12, 2010

and there's a gnawing in my belly; a constant companion to the ever increasing sense of isolation caused not seeing anyone for a week. Am I hungry? It feels like hunger, but the thought of food makes me feel sick. How much longer can this go on for? I fear the toilet. I fear the blood

...apologies! My internal dialogue made external. That's surely never a good thing?

I I I remember the good old days - when I was able to update pretty much once a week. Seems so long ago now. Never mind, we're here now. I have you, you have me - let's blog!

So the biggest piece of news in npf land is our signing of a management deal with The FocoTheory Agency (http://focotheory.com). We'd been looking for some help with the management of the band for some time (seriously, have you ever tried managing a band? Its not as fun as it sounds. And infinitely more time consuming), and so it was a genuine surprise when one of FocoTheory's co-founders, Lance Waste (of Darling Waste) asked if we'd be interested in management.

We've played with Lance's band a number of times in the past (as previous blogs will attest), and consider ourselves genuine fans of both the music and the man - and whilst we've got feet firmly on the ground with regards expectations, it can't hurt to have the resources of a management agency to help!

If nothing else, we've been offered to play a mini tour in November (I assume supporting Darling Waste, but tbc) - if all goes well, we'll be playing Swansea, Cardiff, Bridgend, Newport, Portsmouth, Southampton and Brighton - more details as we get them.

We're hoping to get some new recordings made over the next couple of months - we're aware that its been a while since anything new has been captured, and we're eager for you to hear newer songs like 'T4 (on the beach)', '(happy is) the man who', 'In the long run' and so on.

We've been lucky enough to play a handful of gigs here and there recently, thank you if you were able to come along and support us. The Garage in Swansea's Uplands was a last minute thing, but turned out to be real fun. Hopefully we'll be back there sometime in September.

Last weekend we played as part of Llanelli's Cadno Music's Battle of the Bands...which despite low expectations turned out to be real fun. The venue, The Masons Arms, turned out to be a real find, and Chris (the landlord) should be proud of himself for creating such a great place. There are some pix of the event floating about (try checking out our facebook page).

Talking of Battle of the Bands, we're playing Sin City's Battle of the Bands in September, and we need to sell tickets. It would be awesome if you could come along, even better, come along with a couple of mates! Tickets are £4 each - BUT - in the event of us winning the competition outright, we will refund this cost. Can't say fairer than that?
We'll release more details about where to get tickets from and exact dates nearer the time!

Next scheduled dates (at time of writing) are

Sept 8th - Swansea's Coyote Bar (supporting The Effect)
Oct 8th - Treforest's Green Rooms (supporting Laura's Diary)
Oct 15th - Llanelli's Masons Arms (supporting Laura's Diary)

We often get offered, and play shows at the last minute, so to keep up to date, think about following us on www.twitter.com/nineplanfailed

Till next time...
