Long live the new flesh!

1 - new myspace design

Wow! So, Nathan texts me to let me know that he has 'a friend' that's going to sort out our mess of a 'design' that is our myspace page.

Being a little protective of the band's visual identity, I had fleeting, unfounded concerns about what the end result would be.

Of course I needn't of worried - Nathan has shown previously that he's in sync with me about band visuals, having come up with a load of proposed t-shirt designs that I really liked - which we may well even get round to using at some point.

All the same, when I loaded up the new design, I was blown away. I mean, it looks like we're a proper band, and everything!

Kudos, love and respect to Nathan's mate, and faithful npf gig attender, Chris Buck.

It seems appropriate at this juncture to point you towards Chris' own band, the Tom Hollister Trio - http://tomhollistertrio.com - admire the riffage, beats and hair.

2 - new songs

After what seems like AGES (and it probably is), we got both '(happy is) the man who' and 'THIS.IS.POP' into the live set.

'...the man who' is a dark, driving, chant-a-long inspired by, but not necessarily about the whole recent Raoul Moat business, and the way it was reported. There was a quote made by his mother - 'He'd be better off dead' - that got to me. What terrible set of circumstances can cause a parent, a mother, to say that about her child?

'THIS.IS.POP' is very much a 'Gareth' song. Don't get me wrong, I think I'm right in saying that everyone in the band considers each song the result of a collaboration, but in this instance, Gareth brought the main chord progressions and a set of lyrics to the table.
Its (and he won't mind me saying this) a deliberately disposable, throwaway piece that is all about the hooks, the catchiness, etc. Having said that, its got some nice three way vocal action going on!

Anyway, both of these new songs are appearing in a live set near you...NOW (or soon). Leading me on to...

3 - new gigs

Well, it would be kind of pointless to tell you about old gigs? (even though I've done that on many an occasion, I'm sure).
These are all the upcoming dates and venues that you can see us play:

Tues 21st Sept - The Meze Lounge, Newport
Weds 22nd Sept - Sin City, Swansea (as part of their Battle of the Bands)
Friday 8th October - The Green Rooms, Treforest
Friday 15th October - The Masons Arms, Llanelli

It would be great to see you at any of these gigs - if you do make it, be sure to say hi! Even though I have a permanent scowl, I'm quite nice when you get to know me. Actually that's not true. I'm a bit of a git, but Gareth and Nathan are nice.

4 - other stuff

We're hoping to get some proper recording done over the next couple of months. By 'proper', I mean recordings to potentially release as a single. There's a chance we'll be working with Lance Waste and recording in Yellowfish studios, will keep you in the loop about that!

I think that's all for now...

Till next time -

Dim

PS - shout out to Simon and Laura from Laura's Diary - if you're reading this, thank you both. You know why!
