Other people may enjoy thisPosted By Dim from March 10, 2010You learn something new everyday. Apparently men can get urinary infections! And there was me, blissfully unaware of the pain and discomfort that they can cause. Blissfully unaware till I find myself suffering from one. I've never pee'd so much, or so painfully. NOT fun. Still, I'm not sure a) how appropriate talking about urinary infections is, on a blog about a band But you all know how I like to give you an insight into what makes me tick. So enjoy the rest of this post knowing that with every keystroke, I've been in excruciating pain. March already. We're already a quarter into 2010! Doesn't it bother anyone that we're hurtling towards our respective oblivions at a rate of knots? I mean, I know time is relative and all that, but still - you think you have all the time in the world ahead of you, then one day, you look in the mirror and see a middle aged face staring back at you. And more grey hairs than you care for. Distinguished? My fanny. Not that I let a leathery complexion, Mr Fantastic grey temples and a urinary infection get in the way of rocking the house like its 1999! No sir! And tonight, that's EXACTLY what we'll be doing, as a last minute addition to a 'Death Monkey Records presents' gig, in...Tommy's Bar, which can be found in the UWIC (Howard Gardens), Cardiff! "So what?" you cry - I'll tell you why (but please, try not to interrupt again - its very rude). Whilst growing up, my family moved many times...London, the Midlands, Berkshire, here, there, everywhere - and this had the effect of making me feel 'rootless', i.e. there was nowhere that I considered to be my 'home'. However, after leaving the nest, I lived in Cardiff for a number of years, and despite leaving it for the adventure that is Swansea over ten years ago, I still have a massive affection for the city. I couldn't really tell you why I feel an affinity with the place, especially now, as it appears to have changed beyond all recognition! But, sure enough, whenever I'm back there, I'm overwhelmed by a feeling that I can't quite describe. Which brings me to tonight's gig...our (nineplanfailed's) first gig in the capital! (At least, I think its our first?) Sure, this will mean nothing to the disinterested, but hopefully polite audience that we'll be sweating and shouting in front of this evening, but it means something to me. Hello Cardiff! Did you miss me?
