US invasion

Posted By Dim from the crack in your wall April 13, 2010

Sorry about the infrequent updates. I'd love to update you all more often, really I would, but working a full time job, studying, writing, practicing, gigging and so on are leaving less and less time available.

Still here we are, let's try to recall what we've been up to since last I wrote.

We opened for Swansea's Death Monkey Records' Alt-Fest the other week. Great bands playing, unfortunately I didn't get to see any of them as I had to shoot off after we did our set (I know its bad band etiquette, and I sincerely apologise, but I really did have a genuine reason).

I don't know how many people turned up to Grumblebellies Cafe to see the likes of Eject Pilot Eject, Godbomber, Glass Leaves, Recluse, et al, but when we opened there weren't too many peeps about. I hope the other bands got a bigger audience, because they really do deserve to be seen. Anyway, thanks to the Death Monkey boys for putting us on the bill!

Rehearsals have been pretty erratic lately...I'm laying the blame completely at the feet of our stickman, Nathan. God knows what he's been getting up to lately, but he's been changing rehearsal days more often than I don't know what. Thankfully his errant nonsense hasn't stopped us putting together more material - the latest song, 'All the people', has some...let's call them 'interesting' lyrics, and, a nineplanfailed first - three way vocals. Woo. Go us, eh?

More up to date, we joined Darling Waste and Our Innocence Lost for a couple of dates on their 'US Invasion' tour. We were due to play four dates with them, but for reasons too boring to go into here, only ended up playing two - The Green Rooms in Treforest, and Newport's Le Pub. Really great venues, both of them, but unfortunately both dates suffered from small (i.e. almost non-existent) audiences. Having said that, we really enjoyed meeting up with both bands again, and we were overwhelmed by their generosity, kind words and company. A genuine inspiration, I/we wish them well and hope our paths cross again.

And so to the future! Our next date (at the moment) is Thursday 20th May @ The Old Library in Cardiff. No idea at this stage who we're playing with, but Mike of Video Nasties Bookings has been kind enough to give us a try on one of his nights, so really looking forward to that. Apologies in advance, because we're going to, you know, actually make an effort promoting this one...there will be facebook invites, appearances in listings mags, automated reminders, etc, etc...we'll definitely be playing some new material at the gig, and who knows, we might even have some strictly limited edition merchandise making an appearance there...

Till next time...
