Haunted Duets

Posted By from August 8, 2009

Jason and I are working on some stuff we recorded a long time ago at his haunted Texas Chainsaw Massacreville mansion in the country.

We're kind of rounding off edges and basically perfecting everything to possibly release very soon. It's an album of just... like.. epic soundtrack-ish beautifulness. Ha, no other way to describe it. It's the most collaborative thing I've ever done. Most of it is based on my piano music and very experimental vocals, which Jason just makes absolutely buttery, rich sounding ear-candy masterpieces with.. Some have lyrics and some are just really textured and improvised.. You've definitely NEVER heard me sing like this.. I didn't know I could. :) Jason really pushes my creative limits.

:D

There's even a song where we both sing! It's probably the prettiest one! Jason has a killer voice, as it turns out! He wrote this gorgeous guitar song, and I wrote lyrics and melody to it. I'd never tried that before. It was actually really effortless with Jason's song. Huh - didn't think I had it in me! It was really cool, and the song is just, wow! Jason is mixing and tweaking it now.

So that's what we're doing tonight. Should be recording Sunday and Wednesday, too. We'll do some One-Eyed Doll stuff this week, for sure. I'm just in a pretty, artsy mood right now. We have several albums, "in the works". :) It's kind of nice to be able to choose which to work on, based on my current mood. :)

I'll write more tonight if anything comes up.. I'll get back to work for now.
