Ibex is a cool little venue in the middle of a kickin live music district in Monterrey. Edy and the crew got us there in plenty of time, and we all helped lug the combined gear for the two bands. We managed to get our lovely Jessica in, although it was supposed to be an 18+ show. :)

There weren't that many people there at first, but the club filled up with 75-100 people toward the end. I went outside and gave out about 100 flyers with Paco and the crew between sets, which I think helped. They taught me how to tell people that we were playing around midnight at Ibex Rock Bar.

The bands were all really good: FLAMEBACK, ANCORA, TORMENTOR and APOLO SWING CLUB!!! Awesome bands.

Edy and Julio [a very intelligent 21 year-old student who vounteers at the Mexican History Museum] played a great, very short set with Flameback right before we closed the night. I was very proud of my friends. :)

Jessica, Sahira, Edy and Julio helped me price everything in Pesos, and Edy and Sahira helped a TON before, during and after we played. Jessica and Julio helped translate a a bunch of stuff, like the names of my songs and several phrases for me to use on the crowd and the sound man.

On to the show.

I had all sorts of amp problems, which made set-up almost unbearably long. The sound guy thought I was insane, and I don't think he liked me much[nothing new]. I had a list of stuff all written out in Spanish [thanks again, Jessica!] to communicate with him about monitors and sound, and he seemed to understand me and was thankfully pretty good at his job.

We finally started, and the crowd was extremely kind. Luckily it was half-full of my fans and new friends, who went wild, even though we sounded pretty weird, to my standards. Ah well.. We played the show as well as we could. The crowd was beautiful. They were very responsive when I tried to speak in Spanish, and they actually uderstood alot of my Englsh, too.. They even caught on to the encore, thanks to Paco's face. Yay!

The show ended, and we signed autographs and did photos for a good while. Everyone was so sweet, and I did my best to speak to each of them in my very very very limited version of Spanish. Edy sold stuff for me, while I tended to the fans. I gave everyone a free poster. Boy, were they grateful. I think we sold alot less because of it, but man.. It as worth it to see all those sweet Mexican smiles. :)

As we were leaving, I hooked up a couple of bartenders with shirts and posters. I felt bad that we took so long to get out of the place, and I figured they'd be grumpy at me. Instead, they genuinely thanked me for coming to their city and asked me to sign their posters, so they could frame them for the bar.

After the show, we got to hang out with the whole gang back at HQ [Edy's mama's house], which included members of some of the other bands.. Edy's friends are all so cool and silly. :) Edy, especially - he's a total goof ball, always making everybody laugh. This group is super tight, and it reminds me of my circle of friends back in the day. I love them all very much.

We talked at the house for awhile and then went for some street tacos. Ah, so yummy. I ate way too much. Edy and Sahira paid for ours, which is something they continued to do for the remainder of our stay - when Edy's mom wasn't stuffing us with her amazing home cooking.

Edy and Sahira are the cutest couple. :)

Bed time was something like 5AM. It was a good day.
