"...When he employs chaos, such as with the howling feedback that cuts into the subdued title track, it’s still manages to seem in service of the melody.
“...The album’s about being careful with being too comfortable, and never softening up and letting things die out that you really care about.” - Weld Birmingham
"The home recorded touch [of Delicate Living] shines with some of those B-ham signatures that keeps one foot set in Southern DIY psychedelia and the other dedicated to the city slicker swagger of yesterday’s NYC heroes." - Impose
Featured in a streaming list of "up and coming" artists. - Independent Music News
"...Swirling psychedelic rock up there with the best of ‘em, and in a lot of cases, much better." - Tiny Mix Tapes
"The tracks quickly escalate from a dreamy stupor to an impossibly groovy awakening and then (flip the tape) into absolutely drilling rock and roll. It all seems to say “got too used to it, and I’m moving on”. Seductive and uplifting, Swinford has convinced me that if I’m not constantly kickin’ back on animal time, I’m just doing it wrong." - Tape Famous
"Keeping on that tempo and vibration, Plains keeps the torch of Lou Reed and the Velvets burning from the old undergrounds to the new. “Following Prince” walks in toe with the giants, and keeps it stripped down and real with bursts of skronk to chords that strike like holiday hammock daydreams." - Impose Magazine
"The songwriting is energetic, their structure, retro pastiche. Really, it’s pop writing at its finest with bits, skits, and layers on layers of vocals and warbly hooks. The cassette is impressively long and varied, a real gamut of sultry sounds and gorgeous melodies." - Tape Famous
Bio
Over the past three years, Plains has evolved into a consistent rock n roll act. Ignoring convention and pushing past frill, Plains (Travis Swinford) has tapped into the true drive of rock music: poetic words surrounded by big sounds and unflinching rhythm. When you pop in a Plains cassette, don't be surprised if you find yourself sliding into your seat. The groove is real and the air is chill. The full band live show will help you forget the world and loosen your grip on the things that you can't control. : )
