Bio

23-year-old Price The Poet is driven by passion. Being a southern artist, he is influenced by Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, and Anderson .Paak. Price is dedicated to creating a "sound people can appreciate.” Since 2010, he has been tackling the Open Mic scene with his spoken word poetry, performing at places such as; Mosaic Templars, The State House Covention Center, The Revolution Room, and more. Price has always managed to keep his crowd well entertained. Whether it’s solo or collaborative, he tends to captivate his audience with his ghost-chilling stage presence.
However, it wasn’t until 2013, when the poet entered a local non-profit poetry slam, that his artistically-oriented career path shifted into second gear. Winning first place in the poetry scholarship contest sent him 100 miles from home as he enrolled in school. He then began reaching a broader audience and making his transition into music. There he released his first collaborative project in April 2014, “PANACEA” the Greek word meaning “a solution or remedy for all problems, difficulties, or diseases.” Price swept the campus of Arkansas Tech University with his natural talent. This not-so-diverse university became the audience to unprecedented artistry by way of open mics hosted on campus featuring his peers from back home.

His sophomore year, ML Community & LifeStyle Magazine featured Price the Poet in an article in their first issue of 2015. After the release and wave of his debut project, Price began working on his follow up project “The Passion of The Price,” which premiered Oct. 2015. That same year, he withdrew from college to solidify the pursuit of his aspirations as an artist. He kicked off the year with a bang when he released his most popular single, “Nu Fone, hu Dis?” His Jan 1, 2016 crowd favorite promoted a ‘good vibes only’ theme with added advocacy of optimism. “Nu Fone, Hu Dis?” was eventually discovered by a cellphone repair company who obtained Price’s permission to use his song for commercial purposes.

In June 2016, he gained an artist feature through the Black&Gifted Blog, which highlighted his personality with an interview. ML Lifestyle decided to contact Price again in the summer of 2016 for a live guest performance at their Celebratory Gala, where he delivered a very thrilling performance. Later that year, he acquired a band to play behind him, making his performances more captivating as he got ready to perform at the Maumelle Event Center on his birthday, November 19th. The following month, he and his band competed and won first place in the ‘Blazing the Stage’ music contest hosted by CAAC and Mu Kappa Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta.

Price continued crafting his talent as he progressed throughout the year. In 2017, he released ‘SouthSide’, a more intensely lyrical track that increased his momentum as an artist. With a huge amount of energy packed into one track, he took his fans for a ride. In the summer of 2017, The Influence Radio team invited Price onto their new season of featured artists. Price also performed as a part of their live show series, No Longer Unnoticed: A campaign of shows which serves as a platform for local artists to be discovered.
As a self recording artist, Price took a loss when his recording equipment was stolen. Fortunately, he wasted no time finding, investing, and ultimately upgrading his equipment. With the release of “Da Price Is Rite” single, the Poet made a ‘return’ shortly after learning and improving his mixing, mastering, and producing skills. Price ultimately wants to turn his passion for music into a career rooted in longevity that goes beyond borders; eventually extending itself into other forms of art.
