Quan Brian

Born DeQuan Brian Grignon in the town of Hackensack NJ, Quan Brian is no stranger to being the new kid on the block. Forced to deal with multiple residencies up and down the East Coast from constantly relocating, Quan had to work harder to stay ahead. Despite heading down south for school, much of the constant moving was triggered by poverty and financial hardships, which undeniably is projected through his music.

Along with the financial struggles came criminal activity, which also plays a major part in Quan's music. After beating a criminal case at the age of 16 where he was charged as an adult, Quan had an emotional charge of feelings that he needed to expel from within. He found his escape and release by expressing himself through the art of rapping. Quan started out rhyming with friends and battling local artists around his North Jersey neighborhood. As his confidence grew, Quan began to excel at the skill; this is when he knew that this is exactly what he wanted to do.

While attending Junior College in Gainesville FL, Quan was featured on numerous local releases including a compilation album titled "Thought Process" put out by the group 101 VIbes. In 2002, he and two other fellow members of the Florida based group Koalition released a record titled "New Age Genesis." The album featured artists from both the North and South regions. Quan displays his North to South connection on the "Painfully Awake" album cut titled "Border 2 Border: Jersey to Florida."

Quan is in a constant creative mode working on new material he describes as feeling music. His sound could be described as pain driven honesty. With Quan Brian, you get the good with the bad. For every tearful track, you're matched with a track full of witty wordplay and with every ear catching song, listeners are met wit a touch of descriptive cleverness. Each track Quan takes a different approach displaying his versatility through content, flow and the arrangement of ideas. Quan is an artist who can easily be labeled un-categorize-able. From his humbleness of being open about experienced hardships to the confessions of hardcore street activity and then flipping it on lusty ladies tracks, Quan appears comfortable in all realms.

From his inspirations, Quan developed a unique standout style. Quan's sound is a combination of sharp lyricism and smooth flow delivered with a confident swagger and a humble attitude. From Quan's style, boils over his passion for the music. With every word spoken, every verse written, and every song performed he inhales and spills out Hip Hop. Quan Brian is a rap artist, he's a musician, but beyond the music he's an establishing brand, a movement, a culture, clich like, but unlike any other Quan Brian is Hip Hop.

Overall, Quan is inspired by creative artist with a voice, meaning artists whom whether positive or negative, are able to talk to the listeners and who are able to pull them into their worlds and through their walks of life.
